There are good cults and bad cults in LENR.

The good cults are cults of aims while the bad ones are cults of means. 
Despite some opposing opinions there never was a real cult of personality in LENR, nobody was considered really infallible.negative cults- calorimetry, palladium, scientific method, 

I could (and actually had, in other forms) write volumes about this so I will give just a bit more than a first list of cults.


Cult of Technology

LENR is the new superior energy source of the Mankind- this is its definite aim. It is also new revolutionary science, on more levels, multi- and trans-disciplinary and the reality is that technology is more than applied science. In the present and coming LENR history engineering has the lead and scientific discoveries supply the Light.
Perhaps the future will confirm my guess the more adequate name is Cult of Technologies.

Cult of Extension

LENR is by birth a conqueror- it will look very impressive when it will attain all the limits of its many parameters - some of them being actionable.
I now well understand the message of Chris Tinsley in my dream (yesterday)- why LENR-ist are crowded on a small arena when a great one has to be used. Yes, it is still a start and we are focused, passionately on PdD and slowly accepting NiH not considering that even if we define LENR core as "useful energy from metal hydrogen deep interaction" many transition metals from Titanium to Tungsten, their alloys and intermetallic compounds will open new and new possibilities. The arena will be great indeed. Accepted facts and features will be: complexity, diversity, dynamicity, metamorphosis

Cult of Progress

For 22 years with the LENR genie captive in its electrolytic bottle, the progress in thefield was- and is in that area- incremental- a living system but not able to grow, develop, improve. It is sad, but it is already history that an outlier, not a leading member of the LENR community took the initiative to push LENR toward accelerated, genuine progress. (please read paper 1) at News.

Cult of Newness

I think we have to accept with courage and responsibility the fact that LENR is new, unexpected science and a novel form of technology (more) and what we know is so small compared to what we still have to discover. LENR does not violate any old Law of Nature but in part obeys other new Laws of Nature still waiting to be discovered. if you believe in a LENR aided energy future never call it or its heat- anomalous- it's auto destructive and a bit even suicidal.

Cult of Quality

This refers to the work, functionality of the generators- many generations of generators will come- working reliably, total ssm after start is a must, no noise, no pollution, total lack of ionizing radiations very,very discreetly nuclear energy produced.
Mot of them producing high currency energy that is electric not thermal. An ecological feast. Quality includes effectiveness and efficiency, durability and aesthetics- yes we will prefer beautiful E-Cats.

Cult of Scale Up

This is, must be   a fast cult, because without it there will be no advancement in the field. Size matters. Small, inaudible, sporadic, evanescent signals belong to the past we need massive, controllable well manageable strong effects as heat release. There is no small but beautiful when it is about energy, no milliwatts -only in the lab,. We need mentalities and habits of problem solvers. Technology first!


Cult of calorimetry

The determinant excess release from the Fleischmann-Pons Effect and cells is inherently weak, sporadic and does not last much. It is a metrology ordeal to measureit, therefore all successful pioneers in Cold fusion were or had become excl lent first class calorimetrists. More efforts and creative energy was spent on improving calorimetry than on enhancing the heat effect or even more a problem - to achieve really good reproducibility of the FP effect. Or are these impossible tasks, as I was forced to believe by facts?

I am preparing a kind of Open Letter about this over-discussed by me, but never answered subject so now I will cite only a wise advice received from a friend who (!) shares my opinion.

Cult of the Scientific method at any price

The Scientific Method is wonderful when it can be applied well- it is a ialog between the scientist and Mother Nature. If She answers clearly, it works, if she whispers stutters or has moments of absence- the Method needs help. Technology is always prepared to add to the Scientific Method.

  1. The story of LENR and ECAT and Andrea Rossi reminds me on Guglielmo Marconi the 'inventor' of long-distance radio transmission.

    I have set 'inventor' in brackets, because as every important inventor, Marconi was first studying for example the theoretical and experimental work of Heinrich Hertz and others.

    As the short history of Marconi's invention at Wikipedia shows, even if it is such an important and disruptive invention like the long-distance radio transmission, the invention itself is worth nothing!

    It needs dozens of other factors, the ability, possibility and freedom of research, a rich family, mental supporters, financial supporters, a good friend, an unexpected helper, a ready market, a catastrophe like the sinking of the Titanic, the personal ability to cope with market rules and so on, and last but not least a lot of luck, to enter the market with a product.

    And even if you have already made a successful demonstration in the case of Marconi a long distance transmission, then there will be of course the ivory tower elite scientific community and the existing industry and all are trying to shoot down your invention by all means.

    But if you really have something and if you have enough support and luck, then your invention will not only become product, but also become cult.

    I wonder how many brilliant and important inventions rotten somewhere in dark drawers, just because the inventor was a poor man.

    1. What you fail to see, is that something like Marconi's invention will eventually, and quite quickly, be used in real products, because it is real and easy to demonstrate.

      LENR, on the other hand, seems to be impossible to demonstrate beyond any doubt.

      Of course, in Rossi's case the explanation is simple, he is a fraudster and pathogical lier. In my books also a criminal.

  2. You cannot for a minute think you are actually accomplishing anything positive with all this **** about "cults". ANY experiments done in LENR are a good thing, whether palladium, nickel, tungsten, titanium, constantan, etc., whether done in H2, D2, DH and whether "wet" or "dry". Fostering artificial divisions will only hurt the overall effort.

    The brutal fact is that the primary output of LENR is HEAT, and the only way to measure heat accurately and precisely is calorimetry of one form or another. If you know of a better tool, trot it out and show folks how to do it better.

      Small heat is small success and no progress. It is a mentality problem.
