THE ANSWERABLE ANSWER OF GARY TO MY “HHYBRID APPROACH” PAPER.

Today it is a peaceful day by definition therefore I really regret that I have to answer to this attack of Gary Wright – a self-made Rossi killer. The message is this
http://shutdownrossi.com/gary-reply-to-peter-gluck/ and it is impressive by taxonomy and logical flux.
However my admiration stops abruptly here. The main issue of this dispute is a statement from a recent publication of Gary i.e.

“Now if any person would like to challenge our claims above we would be happy to meet you in court.”

It is a rather strange verbal construct how the neutral “any person” becomes the threatening “you”? By which logic? And who can be happy in the court – a very stressing place, except sadists and masochists? De gustibus non disputandum.

See please: http://shutdownrossi.com/rossis-1-year-later/

I have interpreted this message of Gary as ACTIVE:
“If you do not agree with what we say, we will call you to court”

Very angrily Gary says repeatedly that I have grossly misinterpreted his statement that is PASSIVE and has to be read like:
“we are ready to confront those challengers in court, if they will start some legal actions”

However, please take a look to http://www.thefreedictionary.com/challenge
the challengers (any person, you) do not take him (Gary) to court. Why Gary, who is hopefully a native American-English speaker, has not used a better wording? As “we are prepared (please add how are you prepared?) to confront in court Rossi and his accomplices, collaborators, fans, supporters in - if they call us there. That “happy to go in court” formulation is, in my opinion clumsy and very open to interpretation.
It is a proof that Gary is not an alter ego of Steve Krivit who writes crystal clear sentences.
I have NOT misinterpreted Gary’s statement the fault is entirely his. (Dear readers please VOTE, who is right?!).

Gary informs us that the court issue was caused by people associated with Rossi who don’t like the shutdownRossi idea. and are threatening him with legal actions but where are these documents attesting Gary’s victim status?

Gary says he respects democratic values and freedom of opinion
And he really respects those opinions that are similar to his.
However the calling in court issue is NOT over!

Gary Wright writes:
I believe in the right for everyone to say and believe whatever they choose.  What I do not think is right is for someone to violate laws and morals by carrying on a fraud and scam, defrauding people out of their money.  And in this case I am devoting a little of my time and effort by concentrating on Andrea Rossi’s e-Cat scam and fraud, only because it is connected to cold fusion/LENR

This is more interesting than it seems a la prima vista!
First Gary knows hat Rossi is doing a lot of harm to many people and instead of boldly going to Court as a good citizen (of US and of the world), he chooses the inefficient method of blogging – thus being an e-paper tiger fixed to words but fearing action.
He has some excuses:
- he needs victims of Rossi to represent them; where are these victims?
- he needs an identity, but apparently he is just a nickname, face- and CV-less, ungoogleable (if you make a search for “Peter Gluck” first comes a successful American architect and I am the second with many statements for which I take full responsibility. Gary Wright is hidden by some celebrities and it seems he was born when his ShutdownRossi website has started.)
- Who are you, Gary Wright? This question is not a personal attack, just curiosity. The weird thing is that you are interested in Rossi’s criminal activity just because it’s connected to LENR/Cold Fusion. Ergo, you are a member of our community of LENR lovers- but nobody knows who you are. Why?

Gary, I am happy to see you are also using the Gordian Nots style of my 20 Problem Solving Rules- therefore you know that what you do not say, the implicit questions you do NOT answer is/are more relevant than what you say. How could Rossi fake his experiments with a zero excess heat device? Again where are the people whom he has done harm? Why so many people who had been in touch with him have rejected his invention but also many people and some smart and nice sincerely and in the disinterested mode are his friends?  Have you commented about his Italian fans and associates, about the Swiss presentation and now about the
Swedish TV issue how could he mesmerize known scientists, smart journalists and a well reputed TV channel to appear there? Corruption and Hanlon’s Rule explain it all?

The rest of Gary’s paper is mainly about Rossi not many new things but systematically presented.

It is obvious Gary does not like my request that if the very improbable happens and Rossi puts a working generator on the market he (Gary) should make seppuku and asks reciprocity i.e. something similar from the supporters of Rossi in case it is finally and absolutely demonstrated he is fraud who has nothing, nor excess heat neither energy source.

The Great List of Rossi’s lies and other sins follow - quite useful. The suspect thing is that at all Rossi-sins-lies Gary starts with the formula: “I am NOT the one who…”  Why?

, Gary emphasizes the fact that Rossi is lying, NOT he; I think nobody has suspected him- this would be possible only with a very split personality and I am ab ovo excluding this fantastic possibility: Rossi is a religious person and his remorse for engineering a fraud can motivate him to simultaneously write about his sins and ask to be punished/stopped (It is not my idea I have read it at one anti-Rossi Italian website authored by “Serena”- if true this a problem of psychiatry- but I think it is nothing real)
With whom, or with “what’ is Gary dialoguing? I have accused him that he is threatening people with calling them to court for their opinion, he negates this saying I have misunderstood and misinterpreted his words, however as far I know nobody has said Gary is kind of destructive. competition of Rossi. What I have read on an Italian anti-Rossi site – a crazy idea of “Serena” is absolutely unbelievable and I have ignored it- I mention it for the first and last time.

The list of sins is spectacular, serious moral flaws and can be overturned only if Rossi has indeed a kW level working heat generating device. If he has one, even if not perfect, the lies remain lies but have to be interpreted quite differently.

I have added a lie to the list –Rossi actually don’t needs and don’t wants a patent and this has a generated a cascade of questions from Gary putting in doubt his abilities to understand a situation. I will try to answer systematically:

A) Rossi has many flaws but even you have NOT told he is lacking intelligence;

B) Even if somebody is not good in writing patents it is possible to hire a specialist;

C) Rossi’s “fighting” patent application WO 2009125444 is very badly conceived and written, a weak one. Just please compare it with Piantelli’s WO/2012/147045, WO 2010/058288 and WO/1995/020816; these make KO Rossi’s patent in the first minute. Rossi\s patent can only intentionally be so bad.

D) The Italian patent of Rossi has absolutely no value except the bureaucratic one.

E) Some of my patent expert friends agree with my logic and idea, say know this standard trick. Dear Gary, ask you experts, please and make a bit SunTzu reading it will help – if you will be called in the court too. You also need much better Rossi-speak to English dictionary, I think

F) The problem is insoluble actually, we can ask Rossi if he really wants a patent, surely he will not answer, will not tell the truth, very probably he would be pleased to see you hanged on a higher branch than I am hanged; he does not like us both, but clearly he does not consider us his good friends, except if the impossible scenario of Serena works…

Gary, it is very much against the elementary Netiquette to call “Mr. X” somebody with whom you have corresponded a lot using first names as it is normal even if you are very angry...

“And in the future, Mr. Gluck, please try not to misrepresent my words”

In the future dear Gary please use the proper wording and try to be more realist and …Merry Christmas to you!

A HYBRID APPROACH FOR SOLVING THE LENR PROBLEMS.

Motto:
“Create constancy of purpose toward improvement”
 (W. Edwards Deming)

I deeply believe in the value of KNOW WHO and therefore I try to publish interviews with providential persons in my modest Blog. I have succeeded to discuss here with the frontline fighters of LENR, with the Bisinis who are indeed able to think well, and I had the unique privilege to be informed by the Goddess of Wisdom about the causes of the present multi-Crisis:
http://egooutpeters.blogspot.ro/2011/01/stop-koalemos.html
(I made an unpardonable gaffe forgetting to ask Her if, when and how will this Crisis end, so I have to continue that historical discussion)
Now- I see that LENR is at crossroads, however few of its few supporters are really aware of the fact and its implications, however some decisions of great caliber have to be taken –fast! Ergo, I have asked the Zeitgeist of LENR- formerly known as the Spirit of Cold Fusion, a relatively young descendant of the Soul of Energy- for the following interview. Not an easy job, ZoL is an independent thinker who has the nasty habit to answer questions with better and smarter questions.

Q: In your opinion, what is the state of the field? What is the problem?

A: I wonder you are asking this… 23 years and 9 months were not enough to you to understand both the outer problems- lack of empathy, our unjustly low reputation, sensationalist-negativist journalism forming the bad habit to use the field as a standard bad example and the inner problems: chronicized weaknesses of both the theories- I have a Babel of them and experiments – it seems that stepmother Nature gives barely audible signals/answers and only when She happens to be in a good mood. Prejudices, bad myths, memecracy (you have coined this idiotic but unfortunately realistic word!), horizontal slow progress- intolerable!

The situation has to be radically changed, – we need a lot of boldness- and I tell you now the great secret; it CAN BE changed!
Please erase the word “impossible” from your dictionary!

Q: I fully agree with you, dear Zeitgeist, but please tell me can we apply the Scientific Method for solving all these LENR problems?

A: Wrong question, the Scientific Method must be applied to
LENR exactly as our purist, scientifically oriented colleagues ask it. It is only a problem of timing and priority- but the decision must be final. I well know it is something difficult, I understand that Physics is in a state of crisis and I understand it clearly, not in your confused, unprofessional way. I well know that some, more or less neighboring fields also have the scientific problem- however not the curse of experimental crippledness. This has to be changed on a trans-disciplinary level and LENR must to contribute to a general solution too.
The problem is what to do in meantime?

Q: Excuse me, I am asking questions here, not you- what have we to do in meantime?

A: Excuse me, actually there is one certainty: we are NOT allowed to put LENR to hibernate just because the scientific method cannot be applied to it just now, and there are two questions;
a) what will we do in meantime?
b) what we must do in meantime?
If a) and b) are very different, I have great bad chances to remain a lab curiosity for long, long time.

Q: What is your prediction regarding what we will do?

What will you do in meantime? Perhaps what the black and grey sides of human nature dictate; LENRists will continue to do what they have done for almost 24 years, with the same old stuff in the same well known systems and we will expect better results. We will enter full speed the cul-de-sac experimental streets and we will continue to ignore your dirty poisoning hypothesis. We will continue to think that there is no essential difference between the
mW-W type LENR and the desired kW-MW LENR+- your own, inner prejudices, myths, traditions and memes being genuine powerful mental dictators.

Q: OK, Zeitgeist- it is a lot of pessimism in LENR circles and it is contagious; instead of complaining better say- what do you think we actually have to do, we must do?

A: It is simple; you have to rethink what Good Mother Nature tries to explain you, in her special way. The barely audible signals have a deep signification and they are a hidden vital suggestion to you, our Mother says:
“You see, this is My LENR, it is weak and perishable but it is a start, come take it, change it, build your new, own LENR, make it thousand times more powerful, useful and rich, convert it from a nasty problem in a blessed energy solution!  I gave you the best brains in the Universe; Homo discontentus so take note- for this you do not need high tech auditory apparatuses but good sound amplifiers!”
That’s Mother Nature, when she whispers, she really whispers, but when she roars, then she ROARS!
What is more scientific than discussing with Nature?

Q: Again questions, ZoL! If what you say- that Nature dixit is true, then actually we have to combine the classic Scientific Method aiming to good theories supported by a lot of experiments with Problem Solving and the Technological Method which, horribile dictu, includes empirical methods
with no theoretical basis. Is this politically, no, excuse me,
scientifically, correct?

A: It is realistically unavoidable, pragmatically useful and materialistically necessary – research is discovery, but it is also
competition and yes, it is business too. And this is true for all the other fields too, not only for our LENR. And if, God forbid! it happens somebody will be able to build a commercial energy generator working well and thoroughly tested for safety prior of understanding all the minute details of the process but knowing its very principles, what then? Will the skies fall? On the contrary I think- science will obtain what it needs to apply its method in the optimal way.

Q: Zeitgeist, the method from your sketch does more than mix Science and Technology and even gives more than a combination of these, do you agree to call it the Hybrid Method
of solving the LENR problem?

A: Why not? It is very strong symbiosis of science and technology. It seems the two outsider intruders in LENR, Rossi and Defkalion are both trying just this now. My fans have given very mixed reactions to this New Wave in LENR and this is justified only in part by the trend of the newcomers to over (?)-protect their intellectual-experiment based property. We don’t know much about what are these researchers doing but I bet they do apply the Hybrid Method.

Q: May I ask you about Andrea Rossi? The best living US LENR journalist has decided to ignore his work completely and a site aiming to shut him down says communist style they “will be happy to meet you in court” if you dare to disagree with their opinion and agenda of debunking Rossi as a fraud and scammer. What do you think?

A: About that Gary Wright? You told he has strong certainties- however not strong enough to sign an official document that he will make seppuku if Rossi succeeds to demonstrate and put on the market a commercial Ni-H energy generator. I hope his message from above is a product of his weird sense of humor.
About Andrea Rossi? Actually I am convinced, much more firmly than you, that he has discovered something new and very important for LENR. How? He knows! He says that evil forces
are making impossible for him to get a solid patent. The truth is that he does not need and does not want any patent, because he
first of all he wants to keep his process, his problems, his weaknesses, his errors and searches as secret as possible as long as he can. LENR’s life without Rossi would be less interesting. To ignore Rossi is very risky- you have to explain his experiments, his promises and his successes- the newest being his show in the Swedish TV. A lot of good, smart and valuable people do believe Rossi. It is naïve to interpret his slogan “the market will decide” as not caring for science and scientists- we have no idea who are his associates and helpers. His generators are essential his manners, methods and mythologies are only context.

Q: And what do you think about Defkalion?

A: I know they are your friends, and I also know why- I am a spirit.
They are obviously using the Hybrid Method and they have told how they have arrived here. They claim to have used many sources of information/inspiration and this includes many natural phenomena- so they got the message of Mother Nature and are building their own variant of LENR deliberately changing both hydrogen and metal (nickel) very far from the natural states.
They try to have a good working relationship with my main community. This includes theorists and their theories- they seem to say that some theories are quite deep, but no one is broad enough! I am very optimistic regarding their Canadian future first of all because they obviously are able to understand complexity
perhaps better than anybody else in the field.

Q: Why are you emphasizing complexity when we have so many simple theories and when our duty as scientists is to use mercilessly Occam’s Razor?

A: Why are you contradicting yourself? I am not reading everything you write, I am a busy and unhappy spirit and I need optimist and good info and reading, however I have noted the chutzpah in your statement:”Cold Fusion is too complex to be let to the physicists” You was 45 years old when you had to do some research in biochemistry; do you remember how difficult it was to make your homework? And your wise friend Chris Tinsley has told “Cold Fusion is to Hot fusion what biochemistry is to chemistry” and he was right. A great pity we have lost him so fast, but he surely is in a pleasant place heated with LENR. (So is the other place too but this is not relevant now)
OK, LENR is much more complex, diverse and surprising than we usually imagine. It can not be explained by a single theory. Please understand that here enters the Technological Method, its role is to find out how to convert extreme inner complexity in tame outer simplicity and usability- and this happens in your car, TV, PC, mobile phone etc. and will happen in your Hyperion too if you will succeed to survive the next year. Nothing is more counter-productive and dangerous in research than ignoring or trying to by-pass the formidable inherent complexity of things.
You speak about Occam’s Razor as if you are using it daily.
Have you read the literature of it? Do you grasp its limits? Do you see that its place is on the interface you get in contact with and not inside the working systems? It is in thinking and not in the reality per se. LENR’s powerful complexity does not care much for Occam’s Razor and has not much to do with Dr. Occam’s other tools as axe, hammer, scissors, scalpel, boomerang, needles- But you need these for good thinking.

Q; Zeitgeist, do you think this Hybrid Approach will get LENR out of trouble and will ennoble it in a real source of energy?

A: Yes, Peter, I am firmly convinced, and I think very soon the history of LENR will be a triumphal march or more.
I am a spirit; however a human spirit and it still is a slight possibility that I am not inerrant.  And you know the saying:”Errare humanum est”, as the ancient Greeks used to say.

WAYS III – THE PATIENCE

Motto: How can a society that exists on instant mashed potatoes, packaged cake mixes, frozen dinners, and instant cameras teach patience to its young?  Paul Sweeney

It should be generally accepted as a universal truth the fact that with every day of our lives, we are getting older. We can of course chose any other word instead of ‘older’, there is quite a wide range - smarter, wiser, nicer, richer, fatter. However those would be no longer acceptable as universal truths, because we evolve differently during our timeline, depending on a great number of factors.

I have browsed through the Quote Garden this evening, like every time when I plan to write something, in search of a nice motto. As expected, patience is regarded mostly as a virtue, the aptitude of wise people. Perfectly qualifying as one of the ways out of the so-called crisis (or better say one of the ways to survive in the new world paradigm which we are experiencing lately).

Why choose ‘patience’ as a way ahead? First reason that comes to mind is because I admire it in some people around. Of course not all people who do not (re)act can be qualified as patient, there is a fine line between virtue and weakness, just as in all character features.

What would then be the definition of patience in my view?

I would describe 'patience' as a certain type of action (or even a certain lack of an obvious action), at a certain moment, sustained over a certain time, triggered by a certain evaluation of a certain situation, correlated with a certain decision regarding the best choice of action, with the ultimate purpose of achieving a certain goal in the wisest possible manner.

Have I lost you already? ...

Have a little patience and try reading it again, perhaps even putting it in a certain context relevant for your own experience (sometime when you really believed you were patient...). I strongly believe that if any of the components in that phrase are missing, then the action cannot be qualified as patience and the person is not really patient. If the time line is wrong or if the evaluation of the situation is not proper or if the choice of action (or lack of it) is mistaken or if the purpose is not achieved, then we actually deal with bad results or at least with missed opportunities.

The most frequent mistakes made by impatient people are either uselessness (unneeded actions which do not harm but also do not help anyone, are just a waste of energy) or even destructiveness (usually actions without reasonably understanding the situation). The difference is most important for the impact on the community around the impatient person, as some actions which seem just useless for some, are destructive for others.

Sometimes the actions of the impatient can be constructive, but this would be mostly triggered by coincidence. A chain of lucky coincidental events can trigger the persistence of the impatient in his / her behavior and even a gradual worsening of the destructive potential. Usually such person is not even ill-intended, as in case of planned destructive behavior we usually deal with patient planners.

On the other hand, patience does not mean just waiting loooong before you answer a question or endlessly gathering data before acting in a certain direction. The patient’s wisdom comes from knowing exactly when is time to act and when is time to wait and see or listen or gather more information. This knowledge is partially inherited, partially educated and partially driven by experience. Therefore the sooner you experience harmful effects of your own impatience, the faster you get better at feeling that right moment or at choosing those right battles. Just like John Dryden said almost 400 years ago: ‘Beware the fury of a patient man’.

And so, the second reason why I have thought about this way ahead was because I have begun to build on my skills in terms of patience and have already learned that the best possible teacher is the negative experience.

And cooking... well, this is a big part of it, and the motto is very much right. And I realize more and more how much I miss the regular patience lessons from my kitchen. The childhood for example was a constant lesson of patience - either queuing for food or waiting for miracles to come out of the oven. I was always amazed about how long can half an hour really be, when you are not allowed to open the oven door, no matter how curious you are whether the cake is really growing. Because once you opened it prematurely, the disaster was guaranteed. And back in my childhood there was no glass window on the oven door… There was also clear for how long you have to mix the eggs with the sugar so that they become puffy enough.

I also knew how long it takes to get to my grandmother by train and already learned that sleeping and talking makes the time go faster. And I was never really a train sleeper …

Usually there is a direct (but reasonable!) correlation between good things and waiting time.

When I was very young, there was one Romanian movie called “Hurry up slowly!” My mother liked the title so much (the movie was also nice…), that she tried for years to carve those words into my mind. I believe she was never really happy with the results of her efforts, as I was always more the type ‘Oh God, give me Patience! NOOOOW!”

Lately I have seen that it is better to slow down and take more time to understand things before acting based on my emotions. I believe this is especially important when people experience negative feelings, which are usually bad advisers. There is something to be learned from stones, rivers and trees, but also from birds and bees, or from predators and prays. We should learn to be patient without forgetting that we need to act in time, efficiently and in the direction of our purpose.

The way in which a wisely patient person chooses to live his/her life should be highly correlated with one of the roots I approached last year, respectively ‘the tolerance’. Such a person should know just how much he/she can tolerate without action, what action needs to be taken and why, when and for how long, so that the result is consistent with the intended purpose. And this can be best achieved when it comes naturally, part intuitive and part reasoned, in a beautiful combination of self-confidence, maturity and courage. And in order to achieve this, some of us need a lifetime, some less and some even longer than that.

This Christmas I wish to all of you that you may learn the lesson of patience early enough in your life so that you can contribute in teaching it to others.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Georgina Popescu

IS COLD FUSION NATURAL? (an essay in questions and counter-questions)

It is well known by the experts and I also have emphasized this many times- good questions are more important, relevant, efficient, stimulating and lasting than the best answers. Our field, cold fusion or LENR has problems described by our leader Edmund Storms, based on his very personal experience, so:

“I have been studying LENR for 22 years and have run hundreds of experiments, most of which were unsuccessful and all of which could not be replicated at will.  I have read every paper. A huge data base supports the field. The problem now is the inability to agree about what this data base means. In other words, we do not agree about an explanation. Each example you show has a unique characteristic that does not apply to CF, which describing would be a waste of time.
Until a useful explanation is achieved, the effect will not be made reproducible because too many variables affect the process.  Presently, success has been based on luck. Luck can start a search, but it does not make a reliable technology".
(quoted with the kind permission of the author)

My own experience is degrees of magnitude smaller than Ed’s, however my collection of disillusions, my worry, my silent chronic desperation, my negative enthusiasm, my desire to contribute to a Solution- is all very serious.
Now, I have supposed that the question:
“Is cold fusion natural?”
is a good one and will be able to reveal decisive facts and generate valuable ideas that can radically change, even reverse a rather unhappy situation.

You know the Question- its short answer is NO! And a bit longer answer is YES! Both are correct and in the same time incorrect, you have guessed- this is a question with a special answer, a MU answer, much beyond and over Yes and/or No... As the majority of self-educated thinkers and intellectuals, I also have first learned about Mu from the book of Robert Pirsig:
http://www.awakin.org/read/view.php?tid=583

My Italian friends can read my 2006 presentation: “Is there an energy crisis? A Mu answer to an incomplete question.” dedicated to my much regretted dear friend Claudio Ciavarolli who was a Buddhist. [1]
This Mu answer means we have to improve the question and a question’s natural (i.e. based on its interrogative nature) allies are other complementary questions or counter-questions (CQ) that is, investigating the question itself.  Let’s try:

CQ- actually which kind of CF is natural or not natural?

Cold Fusion as we already know it and Ed Storms says it, is far from being in an optimal situation. From the point of view of theories it is merely a combination of Far West and a bazaar of ideas and explanations created by people united both by optimism -long term and silent desperation for the present situation
There is a broad range of diverse experimental results that show very clearly that the excess heat is real but does hide well its natural trend to be useful too. Excess heat remains small, short-lived, and uncontrollable. But from this chaos a Great Question arises just to be sent back traditionally with anger: we have only one form of Cold Fusion or more?  CQ has cold fusion a plural? It is a question about natural- how does Nature work? Is Nature ideal, full of wisdom, using the best economical ways and then surely in this case:”Nature has only one mechanism to produce LENR” and this mechanism works both in the Pd-D and the Ni-H systems more or less alike. Or on the very contrary, Nature’s unique ambition is to be interesting, not good, wise or efficient, Nature is incredibly rich an creative, Nature knows only solutions but no problems and waste is her mode of action and then why should be imposed any damned limits on the variants of cold fusion? Why not, as I have predicted in
http://egooutpeters.blogspot.ro/2012/03/metaphor-story-of-lenr.html
there are more ways to the much desired technologically valuable cold fusion, but most of them practically inaccessible?
My readers know that I have my place in the CF bazaar; I am selling rather unorthodox ideas. Yes, I think there are two main variants of CF one is interesting the other is useful, and, quite paradoxically, even more interesting than the first one. Society-wide a Niagara of  skepticism pours over interesting CF, and the existence of useful CF is not accepted even by many who know that the interesting variant is real only unfortunately not well manageable.
I had using the name LENR+ for the useful species of cold fusion.
To repeat my argument very shortly, I think Pd D is able to generate only a very small number of active sites, now called NAE and in the inherent conditions of electrolysis, most NAE are poisoned and inactivated irreversibly. The system is not able to serious intensification and/or scale-up and will never grow up technologically.  If it will, during my lifetime, I will sincerely celebrate my lack of inerrancy.
The newer classic branch of CF/LENR is using man made NAE i.e. smart nanostructures. For the time given it seems the systems have limited spatial densities of NAEs, only partial ability to regenerate and too short lifetimes. If somebody will make a preformed nanostructures-based system to give useful energy above the 1kW level, I will arrange that my blunder should be included in the Guinness Book. However, till then I will repeat that neither Pd-D nor the smartest nanostructures are not energy-dense enough to be used as sources of energy. To further erode my popularity I will say that what Rossi has quasi-discovered very probably a method to generate many NAEs at higher temperature dynamically, a lot are generated, some react, some are destroyed but this is a process in some equilibrium. Short lifetime of NAE is not more a problem! It is continuous renewal and replacement. The system is never NAE-less!  Defkalion has understood the potential, the problems and the way to develop this idea.
Defkalion has mercilessly modified the structure of nickel aiming to intensify the continuous NAE-genesis at high temperatures. . In order to make these NAE more efficient and productive, the hydrogen must be converted to a reactive form, molecular H2 being lazy and relatively inert. (and poor interesting cold fusion tries to use it as such!) I consider this vision as logically consistent, and I believe that useful CF was already created and is just now growing up faster than you will think.

Is interesting cold fusion natural? Yes, because it is there in the systems used but unfortunately it belongs to a category of very rare and rather weak phenomena. No, because the systems itself are not natural; for example, as far I know deuterium is nowhere separated naturally from the light hydrogen isotope.

Is useful cold fusion natural? First answer is a strong No because the very nature of both the metal and of hydrogen are so radically modified from their natural, let say standard state. But it is also a clear Yes because it seems that some forms of Cold Fusion/LENR do happen in Nature, Defkalion’s ICCF-17 paper speaks about “LENR in nature. What we already know” [3] and they say natural CF/LENR has inspired them for working out their proprietary heat generating method/process. (just to mention, it is about non-biotic forms of CF.)
I think it is encouraging that we have some relatives of cold fusion in Nature, but perhaps it is not vital. Mankind has created unnatural (more precisely man-made) things that work perfectly for us combining and transforming natural raw materials- there is no other. (Re)read please my paper “Technology- mon amour” It is unique, however in more senses of this adjective.

CQ- just to not forget- what does “natural” mean?

Natural is an over-abused commercially exploited, ideologically misused, many times misunderstood poor word. Adjectives are so slippery and so vulnerable!
This question being important but not on the main thinking line of these writing I recommend you to read first this: http://skepdic.com/natural.html  There is not about cold fusion but so many fundamental issues can be asked and discussed here as;
CQ- is life natural? Is cognition natural? If Yes than how and why? If No then how could life and thinking be created- and are they omnipresent in the Universe or is our Planet a singular privileged place?
Alternatively hot questions in the worst sense can be also asked as is homosexuality a “crime against Nature”? Before trying to answer please read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexual_behavior_in_animals
It seems sometimes Nature is very unnatural.

CQ- natural or not natural, is this the question, or not?

For the start we will define natural simply as pre-existing in the Nature; this question is then: is it so very important for cold fusion to be present in some form in Nature. Fire is obviously natural, cold fission has happened at Oklo [2], hot fusion heats the stars, hydro-, solar-, wind- geothermal energies are genuinely natural, however this does not mean that using them does only good or some good to Mother Nature to our environment.
There are possible also endless discussions about Man playing Nature (not God perhaps) as making GMO (genetically modified organisms). It is not advisable to anger a hornets’ nest. Please use
“natural” with care.

CQ- What means to understand Nature and natural realistically?

This is about capturing mentally the essence of Nature, the very nature of Nature inexhaustible richness and limitless interesantity
at all levels and places due to complexity, dynamics and diversity.
If you develop a realistic vision and use a bold approach, you will
Understand that (this being true for Cold Fusion theories) that homosexuality cannot be categorized as a crime against Nature but some simplifications definitely are so
The solution of the vital Cold Fusion problem i.e. the conversion
of the interesting variant in the useful one is made by increasing
complexity in the system in a creative and intelligent way and not by some simplification.
Or: “Is cold fusion is too complex a matter to be left to physicists?

CQ- Is cold fusion an unnatural energy i.e.  harmful for the Nature?

Recently, Mark Gibbs, Forbes columnist who has inspired some of my CF writings here has published this paper: “Cold Fusion and Unintended Consequences"
http://www.forbes.com/sites/markgibbs/2012/11/20/cold-fusion-and-unintended-consequences/
My natural reaction to it was negative enthusiasm; first of all I was not able to understand Mark’s motivation. As a journalist I was shocked by the two absolutely inadequate analogies from the
first part of the paper, with cats and mosquitoes that have nothing to do with cold fusion’s advent, the unintended consequences are much better defined here as side effects. Side effects are essential in technology, in problem solving and in medicine. I hope you have never forgotten my problem solving Rule that says:

No. 6. NOT the main desired positive effect, but those secondary negative and/or undesired effects decide in most cases if a solution is implemented.

But the Gibbs paper signifies no solution is possible ever for Mankind’s energy problem because radioactive wastes are absent at our useful cold fusion- ask Defkalion! and see how important is to use a proper name for this technology:
http://egooutpeters.blogspot.ro/2012/08/defkalion-says-heni-is-more-proper-name.html. The technology is ecologically harmless and will have (I predict) an exponential development however not disruptive. As regarding it’s dangerously low price the moneytheist societies know well how free meals can be sold at a good price. Do not worry! An old Romanian tale describing the futility of this kind of worry is hidden here: http://egooutpeters.blogspot.ro/2012/11/my-selection-nov-28-2012.html (the first part of the tale)

CQ- CF and human nature. What is the essence of human nature?

What can we learn from the discovery and the stubborn survival?
from the past miseries and the coming splendors of cold fusion
about the essence of human nature?

A fundamental question that everybody has to ask, implicitly or explicitly is the relation between Nature and Man, and this leads to an other one: what’s the true essence of the human nature? Is it the same as Nature’s nature or is it different?
A quotation I have found a few years ago in an ad of a Hungarian naturist restaurant says it: “Nature has no Problems, only Solutions”
What means it to have a problem? You state that something is not as you like it and you try to change it in your favor. (If you don’t try than you have troubles not problems). In practice we are drowned in problems, crises are endemic and endless and not only for cold fusion.
I have studied the problem of the essence of human nature for many years and now I will tell you the conclusions- I dare to think you are interested in this as much as in cold fusion.

What we are not?

Homo bonus or Homo malus- good man or bad man- because Good and Evil are Siamese twins.

Homo sapiens- it is not allowed to call wise a species with an auto destructive suicidal demographic strategy and with an education system based on accumulation of bare facts not on stimulating thinking.

Homo doctus- is not valid either, so few people are striving for real knowledge and ignorance- arrogant ignorance is so popular.

Homo faber-or Homo ingeniosus- despite my deep respect for technology, it is obvious that statistically the destructive trends are so strong and weapons are the most evolved things man has ever created. And as long as we take more than 80% of our vital energy from burning a primitive, destructive and harmful process that degrades complex structures to simple gases- the use of “faber” is to be excluded.

Homo ludens (playing) or Homo gloriosus (bragging) are about almost general specific human traits but are not sufficiently relevant.

Karl and Friedrich, two bookworms with few contacts with reality and real people, had a very harming idea: Homo pauper (proletarius) is by definition, birth, existence good, honest, smart and full of other virtues and has the very mission to lead the world, obviously after eliminating his natural enemy, Homo copiosus- the rich one. This idea was the source of great catastrophes, of rivers of tears and blood, epidemics of pauperity and misery.  It has hit me too. This happens every time when a category is declared to be kind of Homo privilegiatus always on some obscure criteria, never based on merits. Don’t worry Homo copiosus has survived and is increasingly rich but being only 1% of the population- richness is not human nature.
Eventually, Homo alienos- (strange) is not justified, exactly as
many other beings, Man is as he is and barely could be different...

What we are?

I don’t care if I am original here or not: I have decided that discontent is the essence of the human nature, and our name is HOMO DISCONTENTUS. A Google search proves both my originality and my inability to convert Homo discontentus in a meme. I have to add that I am speaking not about a whining passive discontent, but one inspiring action, first of all problem solving and creative progress.
You will find many examples (as cold fusion) proving that this is true. However the first negative effect is that contented people are extremely dangerous for the human society, they are against changes and improvements, dislike progress and are always on the part of the problems and not of that of solutions. They try to live  by the and from the problems and thus are actively creating problems. Such people make even simple problems to be wicked. They poison society and life. Just look to people who think that Nature being God’s creation is perfect, to our education system and to those on the sunny side of social inequalities. An extreme example is North Koreans who being completely brain-washed are contented (even enthusiastic!) with a dynasty of bloody dictators; contentization = imbecilization, destruction of human nature.

My cold fusion life was a long alternation of the four seasons of
discontent. When the first application of useful cold fusion will become commercial, our human nature will ask loudly for better and greater CF energy generators. And so on…

80% OF ALL TRUTHS ARE PARETO-TRUTHS

One of my essays in preparation is about “Eternal youth as punishment” (actually it is about the danger of remaining immature.) I have already written about the tragedy of eternal life
without eternal youth – it is a dreadful mess –see please: http://egooutpeters.blogspot.ro/2012/05/solving-insoluble-problems.html  the story of Eos.
Suppose I get both, despite the fact that it is a bit late- I know well that in the next 500 years I have to study really intensively the fine differences between reality and truth,
I feel it is my duty to speak today about Pareto Truths, trying very hard to understand a bit more than 80% of what I myself will say. The big idea is that we have to be aware of the fact that the truths we are operating with and vice-versa, are preponderantly incomplete, approximate and relative truths. and this is exactly what we can achieve in a disturbingly real world.

The basics about Pareto’s principle and truths are described here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareto_principle
As far I know this principle is not taught in the School, it is ignored almost or it is not taken sufficiently seriously and this is one of the deep roots of intellectual decadence and the support for Koalemos.

A short list of sayings, quotations, folklore re Pareto’s idea.

The first 80% of the task takes 80% of the time, and the last 20% of the task takes the other 80% of the time. (20/80 Principle)

People who create 20% of the results will begin believing they deserve 80% of the rewards. (Pat Riley)

80% of all statistics quoted to prove a point are made up on the spot. (The unknown statistician)

80% of the quotes on the internet are made up. (Abraham Lincoln)

Effective communication is 20% what you know and 80% how you feel about what you know. (Jim Rohn) –

80% percent of success is showing up. (Woody Allen)

Success is 80% attitude and 20% aptitude. (Funmi Wale-Adegbite)

The weather man is never wrong. Suppose he says that there's an 80% chance of rain. If it rains, the 80% chance came up; if it doesn't, the 20% chance came up!" (Saul Barron)

80% of all people consider themselves to be above average drivers. (Grelb's Reminder)

Never tell your problems to anyone...20% don't care and the other 80% are glad you have them. (Lou Holtz)

I make great mistakes. As I have told, I erred in 80% of the time. But there also are those 20%.  (Artie Shaw)

The average man never really thinks from end to end of his life. The mental activity of such people is only a mouthing of clichés. What they mistake for thought is simply a repetition of what they have heard. My guess is that well over 80 percent of the human race goes through life without having a single original thought.
(H.L. Mencken)

My personal experience with the Pareto Principle.

I can confirm that he Pareto Principle is painfully real:

a) Surprises- based on my diaries- you know those things used in the old times when the Blog still was not invented- I had lots of surprises, statistics shows 80% were bad, 20% neutral or good. It is positive correlation between the magnitude of a surprise and the harm it does.

b) In a standard human existence- life- only 20% is like wheat and 80% like tares (weeds)

c) The three components of the French Revolution – of democracy- liberté, égalité, fraternité- are treated differently. When I was traveling a lot in Romania, I have stated that 7 of our bigger towns have streets called Freedom, Equality and Fraternity.
In absolutely all cases (towns) the Freedom Street is in the center by far the longest of the three, the Equality Street is some secondary and the Fraternity Street is always the most miserable, a cul-de-sac at he periphery. I have maps and I could demonstrate that Freedom gets 80% of the total street lengths. This is kind of architectural-urbanistic reflection of the social situation of these concepts- lots of words about Freedom usually misunderstood as freedom to do what you want; Equality a noble slogan eaten alive by the 1%/99% situation and Fraternity (and Sorority) in its least sexist formulation Solidarity- fast degraded to Liquidarity and Gasidarity. Pareto ruling, that’s sure.

d) A humiliating but humorous experience- in the second year of writing my Info Kappa newsletter- (editorial, web-search school, a management and a motivational paper, selected quotations translated) for Astral Internet Service Provider my boss has told that the guy who wrote the daily Horoscopes has left and has asked me to write them temporarily till they will find a specialist. I have answered that I know well that horoscopes are baseless, worse than lies, idiocies for credulous people. He has explained me that the site lives from hits, page views clicking on ads and that Horoscope gets more, really more hits in a day than my “high quality smart” newsletter in an entire week, it is more profitable, Astrology offends Human Intelligence but  it is Business.. I got a salary increase and for 3 months, feeling the very guilt of intellectual prostitution, I have delivered those predictions for all the signs of the Zodiac. But at least I gave myself complete creative freedom, after learning the jargon and looking to a few models, I wrote the most fantastic prophecies- taking care only to respect a single rule: 80% good things some 20% not so good things but irradiating a contagious, invincible optimism. I had not a single complain, my popularity has peaked,
I got many questions and thanks. But I am not a lie-merchant and
I was happy when Astral got a genuine astrologist who has made a good, serious, well documented professional work.

e) I have stated that you are the happiest with a job where your motivation to work is 80% internal and 20% external;

f) The air we consume has a Pareto type composition- 80% nitrogen and 20% oxygen (the other gases have an effect disproportionate with their quantitative presence). I have
written a Septoe about Brainair- what is the bet for a well tempered brain: Brainair- four parts realism, one part imagination. Obviously this refers more to the sequence science-technology-management-business than to poetry, music art.

g) We have watched the American TV serial drama Twin Peaks
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twin_Peaks  a few years after our Revolution that has removed the dictator Ceausescu and when we had observed with increasing discontent that the things have changed but not all for good, the forces of capitalism have not yet started to work. I have learned fast that the greatest sin in capitalism is to be poor, the inflation was lightning fast, violent events, stress, Twin Peak, this strange horror, occult comedy was in perfect harmony with our reality in which evil things have just changed form. In the day Twin Peaks has ended I have coined the Twin Peaks principle: “The evil is indestructible and always wins.”
Taking this seriously, it is a good reason for despair, demoralization, suicide, however the Twin Peaks principle is a Pareto truth it is true in many times and places – in some it is
Inexorable but for some other places, times and individuals it is not acting at all.
It was a revelation – to understand that our truths
are not ideal, not complete, not definitive, not universal, not ubiquitous, not pure, not absolute, not unique, not constant, and not certain! - no, our truths are broken, hopelessly fragmented.

This can be explained by science and reason- reality is so complex and dynamic that many times it cannot be adequately described by “formulas” accessible to the human brain that is
80% perfectible and only 20% marvelous has its very limits and constrains.

Religion also accepts- it has too forced by events and facts that Truth is broken. An old Jewish allegory found in the book: “Old Wine New Flasks” by Roald Hoffmann and Shira Leibovitz Schmidt, http://www.amazon.com/Old-Wine-New-Flasks-Reflections/dp/0716728990 says how it happened. The first author has won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1981, is a poet and coauthor (with Carl Djerassi) of the bright play ‘OXYGEN- about scientific discovery:-
http://www.wiley-vch.de/books/sample/Oxygen_Study_Guide.pdf

The religion-based explanation of fragmented truths is the following:

“It was a tie; the heavenly vote was split right down the middle ˜ two in favor, two against. At issue ˜ “Should man be created?” The ministering angels formed parties: Love said, “Yes, let him be created, because he will dispense acts of love,” while Truth argued, “No, let him not be created, for he is a complete fake.” Righteousness countered, “Yes, let him be created, because he will do righteous deeds”, and Peace demurred, “Let him not be created, for he is one mass of contention.” The score was even: Love and Righteousness in favor; Truth and Peace against. What did the Lord do? He took Truth and hurled it to the ground, smashing it into thousands of jagged pieces. Thus He broke the tie. Now, two to one in favor, man was created. The ministering angels dared to ask the Master of the Universe “Why do You break Your emblem, Truth?”, for indeed Truth was His seal and emblem. He answered, “Let truth spring up from the earth.” (Psalm 85:11)) From then on truth was dispersed, splintered into fragments like a jigsaw puzzle. While a person might find a piece, it held little meaning until he joined with others who had painstakingly gained different pieces of the puzzle. Only then, slowly and deliberately, they could try to fit their pieces of Truth together. To make sense, some sense of things.”

It is straightforward and sound, plausible, but to tell the truth I don’t like it much. Being a bisinisencephalian, my affinity to religion is low, but due to my love of order and discipline and
due to the years spent in authoritarian bureaucracies, I have a trend toward bigotry. The Divinity asking advices and not taking instant decisions, the professional risks of an ideal job- of Angel, the violent solution a la cutting a Gordian Knot- these seem a bit heretic to me. The good part is the science-spirituality consensus regarding the ‘in-pieces” status of truths. A not easily comprehensible truth, anyway.

h) My great Pareto Fiasco- the newest- shows quantitatively that failures are also governed by the Pareto Principle.
I was very happy when after many years of hard work, intensive thinking, multiple testing and worldwide communications with peer problem solvers I was able to finish my 20 Rules of Real Life
Problem Solving.  Well applied these can solve all the existing and the Pareto majority of he imaginary problems... You can find the final text of the Rules here:
http://egooutpeters.blogspot.ro/2012/02/problem-solving-quasi-desperate-appeal.html

I was convinced that this was the difficult part and all that has to be done is:
- to translate the 20 Rules in 100 languages making them accessible to 80% of the Mankind;
- to introduce the Rules in the programs of schools and convert the kids everywhere in practicians of problem solving.
It could be considered unpardonably repetitive if I will tell that globally Mankind’s efforts are 80% spent for creating i.e. making problems on a continuous and renewable basis and only 20% efforts for solving problems- usually those less difficult ones.
I have friends everywhere and I am making new Internet friends all the time however the reality is sad. Starting with the Rules in English and Romanian they were also traduced in chronological order in: Swedish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Hungarian, Ukrainian, Russian, German, Spanish, Greek, Dutch, Tagalog, Malay, Chinese, Slovak, and Danish.
Yes, all these make 20 languages despite my efforts to get help, the Rules are NOT translated in 80 languages from those planned
including Japanese, Arabic, languages of India each spoken by hundreds of millions of people- who surely have lots of problems to solve. I have promises from very nice people for translations in more languages but it seems some barrier cannot be penetrated the Pareto Principle is dominant and merciless. But I hope that some good people will help the 20 Rules to work.

But, this blog is not so much about truth, Pareto or non-Pareto, as about Value- new sources of energy.
“We” have solved the main problems of information, but in matters of energy our methods are still a shame/
Recently the expression “the fossilized idea to use fossil fuels for energy generation” became used and abused but it is only words.
The primitive and obsolete reaction of burning is used today for getting some 80% of the energy we are consuming and wasting.

In my Will it is a directive- reverse the Pareto Rule here: till the end of this Century make it 20%. Use LENR instead and find other modern sources, break the Rules and be Human.

PLAYFUL WEEKEND MINIATURES

1-Damoc’s birthday present.

My archenemy, Damoc see:
 http://egooutpeters.blogspot.ro/2012/10/my-third-rate-encounter-with-efficiency.html
has again sent me his special motivational suggestion. The attached DVD was the opera Lakme by Delibes. Listen please to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmYRQWYlDbM

This opera too ends with a suicide; avoiding dishonor, Lakme eats
a very poisonous flower, from a species of Datura according to some sources and dies successfully, singing. I have to consult Pierre Loti’s original novel for the details.

So for this birthday of 2012 it was OK, for the next one –if it will be a next one, Damoc could use e.g. Khovanschina by Mussorgsky. This opera ends with a regular mass suicide from religious reasons. I hope Damoc will send his birthday present in 2013 too.

2- The Hell is connected to the Internet.

My God, I prefer the Hell if it is connected to the Internet!
(Valeriu Butulescu)

Yes, dear Valeriu, you are right, we are no more able to imagine an Internetless existence, this or the next one. It is a mystery how could Mankind including our younger selves survive without e-mail, WWW, search, discussion groups and so many other elementary things.”Extra WWW-am non est vita, si est vita, non est ita” Communication is in the very core of the human nature. We deserve free and unlimited communication for our entire life…and beyond. The Internet is a new dimension of life.”

Is this a returning dream or a real memory-bit?
Somewhere in 1990 I have received a strange phone:

"Hello, Peter. Tim speaking, TimBL from CERN. How are you?

- Fine. And you?

- Peter I know that you are crazy for fast information and you are wasting many hours in the library You are obsessed by Borges’s infinite library. I have decided to invent something better for maniacs like you. It will be called www or something like that, still don't know.. Just watch the Internet. And promise me that you will learn to use it!

-Thank you, Tim! I promise that I will be the best of the searchers.
So has it started. I keep my word and my promises.

However, Valeriu, your enchanting aphorism has some unexpected negative consequences- that is a two way connection, the Hell is also connected to the Internet and sends us myriads of evil creatures- viruses, spyware, Trojans, tons of idiotic and dirty spam, bullies, trolls, scammers, crooks, thieves, criminals who practice ill-will and sabotage from simple sadistic pleasure, nasty LENR negationists untouchable by the best proofs we have- horror !

3- Hannibal and Roberto Germano think in similar ways about LENR.

History will remember that Cold Fusion, later LENR, now HHENI was an extraordinarily difficult problem, first much more a source of disillusions than of excess energy.
In such cases it is chanceless to apply a priori old wisdom to solve such a problem. However it is very handy to use these wise sayings a posteriori, when the solution was already sketched at least.
The great Carthagenese warrior speaks about an option:

"I will either find a way, or make one". (Hannibal)

23+ years show that you cannot find a way, DGTG’s example
show that you must make a way.

I find it interesting that a good friend, Roberto Germano- well known for his cultural and genuinely Italian book “Cold Fusion: A Modern Story of Inquisition and Alchemy” (Roberto Germano) Edizion Bibliopolis, Napoli, 2000 (I was honored to write a presentation of it in “Infinite Energy” No 48) – but also an excellent author of aphorisms has told:

You have to evaluate the risks carefully! If you are doing what nobody does, you have to think it over 2 times. If you do what everybody does, you have to think it over 5 times! (Roberto Germano)

A subtle idea telling that it is better to find new ways. Old ways have greater chances to be dead ways. It seems the way to the Inferno is paved with palladium and splashed with heavy water.   (I am telling this, not Roberto!)

4- Mark Gibbs has not pointed out the difference.

I was over-optimistic and naïve writing: http://egooutpeters.blogspot.ro/2012/10/mark-gibbs-points-out-differences.html Mark Gibbs did not want to start a constructive dialogue with me and now he wrote a new paper: “Cold Fusion, a year later.” http://www.networkworld.com/columnists/2012/102612-backspin.html?page=1
The paper and the fact that Gibbs has not answered my friendly messages demonstrate that I was in serious error he has actually not understood the difference s between real and useful, excess heat and an energy source and technology and applied science. Regrettable he has more readers and commenters than me. I have told him sincerely my opinion- in this new paper he tries to kill cold fusion inclusive Rossi and Defkalion. He has used a single reference of an old CF critic; Kirk Shanahan who has his standard premises and arrives to the conclusion that CF is inexistent, avoiding masterfully any contact with reality.

The author has not responded, however I got a bunch of questions from the most active ant—CF troll of the post Rossi era, Mary Yugo. I don’t know if this is her real name or she is George X, anyway the feminine of the word troll is too offensive. I am feminist so I will let Mary-or-on the contrary to tell what she wishes. In one opportunity I have observed that she had a human reaction- not everybody on the Web has. And I am a feminist.

I have told Mary that I see she has a difficult role on the Web, that of a stubborn CF negationist who cannot know what she says for sure. Without absolute certainties it is difficult to play this role, however she seems to still enjoy it. Let’ see Mary speaks mainly about Rossi and Defkalion.

I want to share with you a part of my message (corrected and stylized- this is for you not for Mary):

“I understand what is Defkalion doing and I am convinced they are on the best way to have a competitive energy source soon... I don't understand what Rossi is doing, however I think he has obtained excess heat in his E-cats and if he gets the help of good engineers he will also have success. You seem to be a technologically educated person; can you imagine how Rossi has faked some 12 experiments with some completely inactive cores?
Possibly he has 'amplified' his results more or less but he definitely has excess heat and can control it in good extent.

Explaining the delays is easy- the problem is VERY difficult, the ways to solutions are damned narrow and need time. may I ask you what was the most difficult problem you have solved, as person and/or team?

Back to the start and an obsession: Truly Independent Testing- is a bureaucratic concept not a technical one. It has limited application.

Suppose- you are poor, I am poor. You need a bike and I will sell my bike. I give it to you, you test it perfectly independently both up-hill and down-hill it is OK. You buy my bike.

Suppose- you are upper middle class, I am the same. I want to sell my Ferrari and your folks consider you deserve a Ferrari. I see you have eyeglasses, you are not renowned as good driver (you could be) so you drive during the test but I am sitting in the car too and give you instructions.
A Ferrari is a Ferrari and...you buy it.
BTW, Defkalion’s process was called a Ferrari forced to go on a bad gravel road- it has a huge potential of development.

Suppose you are a billionaire I am an other billionaire. (Nice idea, isn’t it?) I want a new personal jet and will sell my old jet to you. It cannot be any discussion about independent testing, a jet is not a bike or a car- My pilot will drive it, your acts as co-pilot.
A week and hundreds of miles flights are spent for testing testing.

The Hyperion is complex like a jet but is based on a creative scientific-technological thinking structure. In a few months it will be both downgraded and upgraded to a bike, from the point of view of testing, I bet

5- Just two classical quotations, both good for LENRists too

I am learning all the time. The tombstone will be my diploma.

MY THIRD RATE ENCOUNTER WITH EFFICIENCY.

I am listening Rigoletto...Tito Gobbi sings. Beyond some technical imperfections, his voice is of a hypnotic beauty, bright, unique… I am shivering when he tells: “Quel vecchio maledivami” that old man has cursed me.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1gcw0Ja0Mw
The buffoon knows that he was cruel, bad and his sin will be eventually punished. The feeling of guilt is terrifying that unhappy creature, He knows subconsciously that he deserves his fate.

Besides my total affinity with Verdi’s music (I consider this composer the Model of Creativity) - I have one reason more to be so impressed. A strange story, far from reason and common sense. Incredible, however true...

It has happened some 15 years ago. I held a course of Management of Technology to some directors and other leaders. A course for grown-ups (some very…) in a totally open and democratic spirit, first name calling, and collegiality, friendship... The students were asked to contribute as much as they could with their on ideas, suggestions, questions- maximum interactivity... Pleasant but also difficult because many of them were genuine specialists in their fields, good professionals and I had to tell them new smart things about what they were living and creating on a day by day basis.

My lessons about quality had limited echo despite my deep experience in the complexity of the concept- they were educated more bureaucratically than me.
I have succeeded much better with the lessons-discussions about productivity, competition and coopetition, business- intelligence including real and virtual reverse engineering that received a formidable impetus from the World Wide Web. Also, we had positive exchanges of ideas re the organization of the research and development activities and company departments. I had a clear success speaking about invention and patents- principles and practice. I was very enthusiastic when I spoke about effectiveness and efficiency- what you have to do and how in order to obtain increasingly good results technically and financially.
The sincere enthusiasm is contagious but very selectively.  After this presentation, one of the students- who had a very strange unique first name-Damoc has asked me for a personal discussion. I didn’t him well- he was older than his colleagues and actually was fired by his employer which has paid in advance for this course. They did not found somebody to replace him= and he had relatives at whom to stay in our town, so Damoc was still a participant. He was a taciturn and solitary, and from a fragment of discussion I have understood: “he is dizzy and when he is in a state of Damoc (amuck) it’s wise to beware from him”

During my life, I had many memorably unpleasant and nasty discussions with evil, and what are worse, powerful, stupid and arrogant people. I want to mention that when I have asked for a hearing at the Party’s first secretary of Ramnicu Valcea where I was living/working then, because I was invited by a Western German company to see how they have solved the problems caused by the cancerigen effects of vinyl chloride and I needed his approval for travel.
That Party secretary was toxic and impolite and unjust- he told there are greater, much smarter experts than me and I should stay home and work seriously, not traveling at the capitalists on the State’s money. He was adamant and ill-willed.
I leaved angry like hell, wishing him every bad luck possible.
It happened that a few years later, when he was acting as a Party Secretary in an other county, a peasant has stabbed him to death
because he raised the price of the bread in that county. However I am convinced there is no causal relationship between this murder and my bad wishes. I do not believe in curses and blessings. (I have to add that a few months later when the technological problem became critical I have made that travel to Wacker Chemie, where suspension PVC was “invented” a year before I was born. And the problem was eventually solved.

However, Damoc was aggressive like a mad honey badger that attacks lions and other animals twenty times greater and stronger, and he told me a lot of injurious, offensive things- all triggered by my praise of  effectiveness and efficiency. I have now the very difficult task to report you what has  Damoc said however he was far from being coherent and I have to censor his discourse from the few porno-sexual, scatological and blasphemous expressions he has used a lot of times; he was very repetitive as drunk or crazy people use to be. Anyway, let’s say, this was it:

“Can you imagine why is the Earth is revolving so fast? I tell you- to throw down from its back, to get rid from the limited, stupid and fanatic technocrats like you!? How do you dare to sing odes to such evil and destructive and inhuman concepts as effectiveness and efficiency that pervert, degrade and destroy our world? Your technophoria – your confidence that
technology can solve all the problems, is idiotic wishful thinking.
I was fired for the sake of efficiency; I am a victim of efficiency!"

“Are you not able to see the obviously dreadful cruelty of profitable capitalistic efficiency and the imbecile sadism of the fake socialist efficiency?
Do you know that in the name of efficiency there are organized all the time, overtly or in the hypocritically hidden mode- genocides, ginocides, paupericides, invaldicides, senilicides whatever? Inefficient people are systematically annihilated.”

“Do you know the criminal activities of the champions of efficiency, of efficiency in destruction, of our Moneytheistic world? (then I heard first this name): Big Money, Big Weapon, Big Oil, Big Ag, Big Pharma, Big Crime, Big Lie? All are very efficient I could write entire libraries of the Congress about the evil they bring about the poor oppressed people.”

He seemed to be unable to come out from his primitive interrogative style;

- why dictatures are so efficient and democracies so inefficient?
- why kleptocracy is the most natural government everywhere?
- why intellectuals are seen as soooo inefficient?
 - do you know something more efficient than good old corruption in modern forms?
- why greed is good, violence is useful and fast and stupidity has to be encouraged because it breeds efficient workers and disciplined citizens;”

A cascade of questions followed, and I cannot guarantee that I remembered all or I can tell in which order Damoc has asked them, but perhaps you can grasp their virulent idiocy from the following condensed form:

“Who are/is more efficient and accepted or loved by our Society?

- people who consume a bit and produce a lot or people who consume beyond limits and produce almost nothing?
- the school, the hospital or the church?
- art or kitsch?
- quality or empty shining?
- education or counter-education?
- lies or truth?
- the sensational or the true?
- populism or serving the people?
- miracles or reality?
- altruism or egoism?
- generosity or avarice?
- harmony or penetrant ugly noise?
- Beethoven or Michael Jackson?
- dogma or fresh independent thinking?
- independent thinking or groupthink?
- astrology or astronomy?
- initiative or passivity? Laissez faire?
- memes and prejudices or unbiased investigations?
-  good manners or gross rudeness?
- human rights or superhuman privileges?
- simple symbols or a complex realities?
- selling fear and hope or naked facts?
- the parasite or its host-victim?
- a pet or a child?
- to ask permission or to err and apologize?
-  to live all days quite well or most of the days in misery and
a few days in celebration and gastronomic orgies?
- efficiency or freedom, welfare, happiness, human dignity

He spoke then about how financial efficiency dominates and replaces economic and functional efficiency and this is deadly danger for the future. He claimed that the so called efficient society is unsustainable and sooner or later will collapse and this was a genuinely moronic idea I felt an ardent desire to  give him a couple of punches in his nasty face.
“No society can carry so many destructive evils – children of efficiency. Those who promote and support this malign efficiency should be stopped and punished.”
He ended with:

Who seeks and adores efficiency, by efficiency will perish! Do you will learn this and will regret in pain what you have said us”
I hate you and I hate all those who had fired me in the name of sacred efficiency. You will all pay for that but especially you, the ideologist of efficiency, and the guru!

This sounded like a perfidious warning and as the equivalent of a curse.

He stopped, trying to take his breath. It was my turn; I am educated i.e. able to cope with any and all life situations and have a very broad and diversified. Experience, including fights and disputes.
Actually his killer discourse was just Barbie-style friendly chat, compared to the negotiations for quality standards between the Romanian polymer and the plastics industry, the manufacturers of raw materials and their users. These were at least ten times ruder than any meeting of gangsters or the extreme Machiavellisms in practice. (6 cases of infarct and 3 of suicide of the participants in 5 years, old engineers weeping hysterically etc. good school!)
I started immediately the counterattack, but I spoke very politely, taking care to not hurt the feelings of that psychopath:

“Damoc, you triple distillated damn fool, you brain- damaged mean rascal! You cannot understand that I spoke about technology and only about technology? You were the fool who extended the subject to the human, social, economical and financial life where the concept cannot be applied and you alone had hurt yourself. Look, moony boy, you buy an efficient stove and the coal you were able to buy will suffice till spring and you will not freeze in February as with our dirty old stove... What harm makes you a car able to go two times more with the same quantity of gas? A new fridge will save you from being depressed by any bill of electricity. You can paint a much greater surface than before with the new efficient paint, what’s the trouble with this?”

“Damoc try to activate your last pair of functional neurons, think and believe me this is a solid, well built perfectly functional society and never but really never a serious Crisis will come again.  Not for the next 50 years, I put my head and eat it if we will see even micro-crises in our lifetimes we will be more and more prosperous year by year. Toddlers understand how the omnipotent forces of the markets work, repair the few flaws, and assure continuous irresistible progress for long term. Be an optimist like me. Like all rational people.
The European Union is a perfect organization,, a creation of the European genius and we Romanians will join it too- and it is a guarantee that no member state will ever have the slightest economic problem- as soon they appear the other States will come to help, or will anticipate it. The problems are solved and your pessimism is completely unfounded and tragically stupid. Think normally, my friend!
This is a healthy Society. There are obvious things you are not allowed to replace with your sick dark, opaque fantasies!”

My nice words were wasted, due to his psychiatric problems probably, he has not changed his opinion and became more and more noisy, hyperactive and aggressive, I am very resilient and after two more hours, Damoc became completely confused losing all nouns and verbs from his sentences, Two student colleagues had to help him going home. During the rest of he course he made me no more trouble but looked me with killer eyes and I could read on his lips that he was mumbling about a terrible vendetta.

Three years later I have retired and I have received a surprise phone calling from Damoc: “Hey Peter, you will see how inefficient, and ineffective and alone and unhappy you will be starting from tomorrow. All your comrades and accomplices in efficiency will abandon you, will erase your phone numbers from their agendas and will delete your e-mail address on their PCs and forget you for ever, lightning fast!”

I have to disappoint him, only 93.6%, not all my friends have forgotten me, and thanks to me and my continuing activity I was able to get new friends as good as the old ones or much better, - perhaps I have not lost completely this vital ability

But his retaliation is more perfidious. The madman knows that I love opera music- he sends me selected CDs or DVD’s or You Tube addresses for my birthdays, the word SUGGESTION is always appended; I have lots of final scenes from Aida, Othello, Norma, Madame Butterfly- all these end with
more or less direct suicides. Recently (2010, 2011) he has found two new “suggestions, one from Ponchielli’s Gioconda:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3a_bGrhn7s
 and this from Gounod’s Sapho
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EB75tcVKd48
For all my birthdays he sends the same message
:
“You are XY today, you will die soon. But it is a more efficient way for you: suicide!” One good point, the music is really beautiful

I have verified on the Web these are really all the known scenes/arias describing suicides from operas:
http://voices.yahoo.com/saphos-o-ma-lyre-immortelle-soaked-sound-drowned-3814186.html

What a humorless sadistic monster to send me such arias! At my age suicide is highly inefficient and not recommended.

You can imagine how he has jubilated in 2009 when the Crisis had hit our country too!!! I reckon, that time he was more efficient in the high art of invectives than me, I could not believe it. I am getting old.

(I know this was horrific, if you want to relax and calm down a bit , please read  :The Horla” by Guy de Maupassant or/and “Vyi” by Nikolai Gogol

Post scriptum:

As soon as I have published this, I got a message:
“Peter, it is not horrific at all, it is simply horrible.
How can you prove that I exist?
Hatefully yours,
Damoc”
