LENR THINKER
How once I have failed as expert.
When I was a child I heard a story about flour exploding in a mill, so when many years later I read a very well written smart paper in "Chemical Engineering" I have decided to become an expert in this subject. I read a lot of papers books, all the case stories available at the Ecology and Safety committee of the Romanian Ministerium of chemistry and I have got a diploma of expert in dust explosions so i was called to all the cases of accidents. Two of them made many victims- the explosion at the
non-woven fabric in Bistrita and the one I want to talk more about- the cooperative
of disabled, handicapped persons, from the town in which I am living.
The communist society was very oppressive but it had some good parts too- free learning of rather good quality, free health care poor, but with some very good professionals, and nobody was jobless. Even the disabled persons. The cooperative was actually a woodworking factory, their specialty being the folding measure or carpenter's tool (in our area we used the German Zollstock) for this ufeful toll, thousands of pieces daily. The rhythm of work was devilishly stressing and visiting this factory you had the impression that they are slaves.
The accident happened in 1987 at the painting room where the pieces of wood were sprayed with a nitro-lacquer based protective layer. Obviously a lot of
lacquer aerosols formed which went in the ventilation tubes but first through a continuous waterfall which in principle had to wash out all the fine nitrocellulose
dust particles.
A sudden explosion and a long flame typical for dust explosions has killed a first of workers, a separation wall was thrown over the unique door blocking it so those who survived to the shock had only two choice to burn alive or to jump from the third high floor and to die awfully broken. I have seen them and this is one reason for which I disliked the wish of one of the IH pillars who wants that I should burn in the Hell.
A committee of analysis was immediately formed, led by a firefighter colonel, with police, Securitate, prosecutors, two experts - one very skilled colleague from the Institute of Mine Safety and me. We started immediately the work, each day at 10.00 a.m a car came for met at my workplace (then the Institute of Chemistry) and we worked till late evenings. We have discovered a lot of irregularities, the ventilation tubes were not cleaned for month, due to imposed economy the waterfall was working with reduced flow and low efficiency. No maintenance and one defective bearing was overheating. The mining engineer and I have discovered that the smoldering temperature of the dust is as low as 110C so the bearing plus the huge quantity of dust was the cause of the accident. Obviously the leaders of the factory were criminally guilty for running the production without the necessary stops for cleaning etc. I started to write the report, after discussing the situation with the fire-fighter colonel.
But surprise the 5th day the car did not came. The mining engineer expert was sent home. A new expert came from Bucharest. He has found very fast the cause- one of the women workers was wearing nylon underwear that can make sparks- this was the cause of the accident! The commission agreed and the leaders of the factory being in good terms with the party circles plus rewarding the members of the commission (corruption is omni-present in all political regimes)
Bertolt Brecht says something like: "the journalist writes with he blood of the victim "the killer is innocent".
I have met the expert of Bucharest he was really up to all the tricks. He bragged that for money: "I can demonstrate everything. And its contrary as well!"

Dear Dr Andrea Rossi:
Reading the paper written by the two consultants of IH (Smith and Murray) it seems they are not experts of the art. They committed many errors of thermodynamics, not relating them to the specific system as you always must when apply the three TP and most of all they show to be totally non expert of nuclear physics.
Basically, what pops up reading their expertise is that they didn’t understand anything about LENR; also, from their C.V. it appears they have not experience or education of sort related to nuclear physics.

LENR INSPIRATION
How nanoparticles affect flow through porous stuff in surprising ways
Date:April 4, 2017
Source:American Institute of Physics (AIP)
Summary:
Viscous fingering occurs in porous media where fluids of differing viscosity converge in finger-shaped patterns as a result of growing disturbances at the interface. Such instabilities are encountered in a wide variety of fields. Understanding different aspects of this phenomenon, and the variables that can control things like instabilities and velocity distribution dynamics, can potentially offer options to control and utilize these effects more effectively.

Researchers offer novel method for calculating the benefits of renewable energy
Date:April 4, 2017
Source:National Research University Higher School of Economics
Summary:
A novel system for assessing the potential of renewable energy resources has now been developed by researchers. This method can help to assess the future exploitable technical potential of wind and solar PV energy, as well as their capacity to replace exiting generation assets. Furthermore, it can forecast fossil fuel savings and facilitate reductions in greenhouse gas emissions

Summary:
Much like two friendly neighbors getting together to chat over a cup of coffee, the minuscule particles in our sub-atomic world also come together to engage in a kind of conversation. Now, nuclear scientists are developing tools to allow them to listen in on the particles’ gab fests and learn more about how they stick together to build our visible universe. The first complex calculations of a particle called the sigma have now been carried out.

Point 3 above;-
ReplyDeleteIt seems Mr Rossi still does not understand that regardless of how little one knows about nuclear physics and LENR, the failure of his amazing ecat is determined not by an expertise in either of these fields, but a good understanding of simple high school calorimetry.
Here is the problem;
His device allegedly produced 1 megawatt of heat. Where did it go?
Why did he need to invent a fake customer to dispose of it?
If the 1 megawatt was really produced, wouldn't it be more logical for a real customer to actually use it for something?
Or even a fake customer to actually use it for something real?
Isn't it more logical to assume if the customer was a fake, and nothing was actually produced, there was no 1 megawatt of heat produced which could be used for anything?
All these points can be addressed without any knowledge of LENR or nuclear physics. Unless of course, heat produced by LENR and nuclear physics can be disposed of without leaving any trace of it's existence, because that is what a contrary assertion would require.
