DAILY NOTES

A "LENR-IN-CONTEXT" paper yesterday said that a characteristics of engineering
thinking-action (thinktion?) is discovering the root causes of problems. My intuition says that the root causes of the slow progress  in LENR are connected to and can be discovered by the study of the LENR "mysteries" - aspects in strong contact with the multiple facets of the Unknown.
I repeat my request to the Readers- please help me with the list of mysteries!
Thank you for any answer. I gladly accept anonymous contribution because the questions can be very dangerous, generating hostility. They can lead even to losing friends i.e. burning bridges. One of the deepest mysteries is:why is so much (mutual) hostility in the LENR (and LENR+) field?

Dott. Andrea Rossi and others,
If a flux calorimeter is used even a simple resistance (COP=1 by definition) works as dummy. Agree?
Regards, Mario

Mario Lorenzi:
Yes, considered the margin of error and the dissipations outside the heat exchange surface, that are supposed to be not important.
Warm Regards,
A.R.

Again about the measurements of the QuarkX: did you make also a dummy to compare the data with the real thing?

Not during the test with the independent engineer, but we made last week a dummy, just for curiosity: obviously a dummy has COP < 1, using the same instrumentation and methodology.
Warm Regards, A.R.

That's very strange. From this it appears that at the same time Mr Rossi was saying a 'control' or 'dummy run' was useless, he was either in the process of doing one or had already done one. Why didn't he simply say he had already done one and the results showed the excess energy being measured was definitely due to the action of the reactor?
That indicates to me that it was actually not done but he has thrown it in after the event to shut up the criticism.
I think it's a bit late for that. It would have been of far more value if it was mentioned when 'control' runs were first questioned.

Some people have questioned the value of a control run.
All of Mr Rossi's tests and demonstrations so far would have had immensely more value had one been done in each case, right from the very original simple e-cat demonstrations in 2011 and the later Lugano test.
Keep in mind that all the previous reactors began with claims of COP's up to 200, which then diminished to 6. (for safety reasons of course. Runs like a Fererri but is de-tuned to purr like a kitten,..)
And even this value of 6 has never been proven.
I fully expect the amazing QuackEcatX will follow the same script. It has already lost it's direct electrical production, which was the main property which made this rendition interesting anyway.

Had the Lugano test been repeated at the time with an inert reactor at the same temperatures it would have been immediately obvious that there was an error in the temperature measurement techniques.
If these errors were then correct and then if the test still showed a positive COP, the test would have had little grounds for the criticism it has subsequently received.

The question is then, why would someone who is trying to establish the veracity of their invention so steadfastly refuse such a simple test which would contribute so much towards doing this?
The answer which so readily comes to mind is that such a test would show that it made little difference whether the reactor was active or not. On that basis, it's obviously best to avoid that test at all costs.

I am stating the obvious when I mention that had IH insisted on conducting a 'dummy' run on an inert reactor BEFORE they bought into this, they would have saved themselves eleven million dollars and the long drawn out and highly damaging court case they have now been dragged into.
