SHORT INTERVIEW WITH YU. N. BAZHUTOV

I had the privilege to ask a few preliminary questions from the leader of Russian LENR researchers  Yuri Nikolaevich Bazhutov. They call the field Cold Nuclear Transmutation
and I think this name is more realist than Cold Fusion.
Yuri Bazhutov is an '89-er cold fusionist (excuse me) a well known member or our community, a reputed author,  15 papers 1982 to 2014 in the LENR-CANR Library, organizer nd participant at our meetings, CNT strategist, a personality..

It is encouraging to see and easy to observe.how closely and seriously are followed, discussed and theorized the developments in CNT/LENR in Russia  What is the strategic thinking beyond this and the main targets?

After more, than 25 years of theoretical, experimental pilot studies in Cold Nuclear Transmutation in Russia we have arrived to a stage when we think about patents, demonstration devices, search for investors for realization of industrial devices. We  are at a different, higher level now.

Your very personal opinion:  how do you see the scientific aspects; how these new developments, can they be explained theoretically and what do you and your collaborators intend to do for the experimental part? 

In essence is it new science or new application (s) of already known science?

As co-author of the Model of the Erzion Catalysis (MEC), I believe that it explains the nature of CNT. All my experiments made in 25 years  confirm this model.
MEC is built on orthodox representations of the Physics of Elementary Particles including as the main part, Quantum Chronodynamics (QCD) and, therefore it is also the new Section of Nuclear Physics

The Lugano experiment despite its over-complicated thermometric calorimetry is a harbinger of a really wonderful/powerful energy source, MWhours from grams. Unfortunately, the Testers were shocked by the analytical results. 

What do you think about those unexpected isotopic shifts and the dynamic processes that make these possible

Starting with the first experiments made by Rossi and Focardi up to the very Hot Cat tested in Lugano, MEC gives generally fine explanations and I have published about this in RCCNT&BL Proc., and in the  Russian Inventing magazines (No. 1, 2012) and ISCMNS J. (No. 13, 2014). However I believe that our option of Russian E-cat on the basis of Plasma Electrolysis gives a much better perspective-  heat generator at close realization still having a very high output specific power (MWhours from grams common water).

On December 25, 2014 at a CNT seminary-Alexander Parkhomov and you have presented an experiment confirming the Lugano experiment using a realistic-cut-the Gordian knot simple calorimetry inspired from your experience. A very positive event.

However, after more than 50 years in and around research i have learned the cruel 1=0 rule-1 single experiment can't generate absolute certainty. Nor Lugano, neither Parkhomov; so I ask-was the experiment repeated in house and when will the new report be published?

Parkhomov now works on lengthening of time of continuous work of a cell then to  do atom spectroscopic and mass spectroscopic analyses of change of chemical structure and of the isotopic  composition of fuel.

The era of oil burning has arrived to its end. The revolution in CNT (Cold Nuclear Transmutation) opens the way toward a new economic transformation, to the triumph of robotics, to cheaper production and the transition of the world’s economy in which Russia should not be disadvantaged.

On October 8, 2014 in the prestigious Los Alamos electronic publication Arxiv.org it was published the report of an independent group regarding the testing of the heat generator- Hot Cat created by Andrea Rossi. Six well known scientists from Italy and Sweden have tested for 32 days the functioning of the generator that allows obtaining cheap energy on the basis of a new scientific principle.

In the absence of the author of the invention (A. Rossi) there were measured all the possible parameters of the “energetic cat” After that, for an half year the scientists have processed the results in order to get comprehension. And their verdict was univocal: the Rossi generator works and produces an incredible amount of energy- the energy density is millions times greater as by burning the same quantity of any kind of organic fuel and is 3.7 times greater than the input electric energy. In the same time it is changed the isotopic composition of the fuel materials.

No nuclear radiations from the reactor could be observed during the test.

The first demonstration of working of an E-cat prototype was performed already at January 14, 2011 in Bologna, at the Physics Dept. of the University. During this demo the scientists

and the journalists have seen a functioning reactor with the power of 12.5 kW at output. This works on the principle of cold nuclear transmutation as have related the authors, Andrea Rossi and Sergio Focardi.

Sergio Focardi, professor at the Bologna University – has performed even 20 years earlier the mechanism of hydrogen-nickel interaction in cooperation with the professor of the Siena University, Francesco Piantelli. These studies were done in the frame of a new physical phenomenon, cold fusion discovered by Martin Fleischmann and Stanley Pons in the year 1989.

At October 28, 2011 Andrea Rossi has already shown his first 1 Megawatt reactor sold to his first customer. Engineers and scientist were present, verifying how it works. Due to some imperfections, the reactor has produced 470 kWatts working for 5.5 hours in self-sustaining mode. There were used 100 reactor modules each with 3 branches- the whole complex of 300 reaction chambers.

The orthodox physicist overall have again ignored Rossi. According to all the canons of physics, something like this- nuclear boiler on the table- cannot exist! Amplification of energy almost 10 times is pure non-sense! And only few “heretics” of science, working for cold fusion (CF) have supported him.

Rossi had an unpredictable behavior but not so that he could be called a rogue and a charlatan as the orthodox have accused him. He has not asked money from anybody, on the contrary he has sold his house to be able to start this research. He has not chased popularity in the press; he refused interviews and has worked more with businessmen than journalists.

Rossi also has not tried to open a dialogue with the scientists-

the luminaries of the nuclear physics: “The best proof of my truth will be the commercial device on the market”- he says.

The attitude toward this inventor has gradually changed- when after a dozen conferences nobody could show he cheats, secretly brings electricity to the device.

After that NASA took Rossi under its protection. Rossi could not refuse. It is clear he is safer in the US than in Italy. But NASA is only the visible part of the wall built by USA around Rossi and his invention.

It can be confirmed that the US tries to obtain complete control of the new sources of energy, the one who owns it, will be the far leader in technology.

It is for sure to say that Rossi’s invention cannot be kept under lock for long. In dozens of laboratories worldwide, the scientists are trying to guess the secret of the “silent Italian”, to find out his catalyst, to develop a theory of the process. In meantime, preparations are made for bringing the generators on the market. If the transition in industry, trade and transport rising humankind to a new level of automation- needs hundreds of thousands “Cold Cats” (actually they are warm or hot, N.T.)

the start of these new industries will bring the oil industry in the abyss by thousands of ways – very bad for the economies that depend on hydrocarbons. It will become obvious the futility of investing in oil and its long term purchase.

In the near future we can expect a rapid development of the Cold Nuclear Transmutation (a new and more correct name than Cold Nuclear Fusion) both regarding theory and experiment, great investments will lead to breakthroughs in the

related fields of science and technology. U.S. already relies on the revolution in the energy sector and may soon get its winnings, Civilization is near to a new era and we know in advance that it will be grandiose.

Russia is still among the leaders in research in Cold Nuclear Transmutation even in the absence of targeted funding, due to the still strong post-Soviet educational, theoretical and experimental research basis of its enthusiasts. The country has a Coordinating Council on the issue of Cold Nuclear Transmutation, held annual conferences and monthly seminars, in spite of the strong resistance of its orthodox-minded opponents. The Russian researchers in Cold Nuclear Transmutations have presented copyrighted theoretical models for CNT, more than 500 publications at the 25th anniversary of the discovery of CNF by Fleischmann and Pons. Based on the principles of CNT there had been created dozens of patents for the creation of new energy. A part of the researchers had been able to get small funding, others, unfortunately were forced to work abroad.

The “war of sanctions” from 2014 has shown that the US sees Russia as a threat to its dominance in Europe and world hegemony. Rossi’s success gives them a chance to retain the role of the global financial and industrial center, undermining the position of the other strong players. But the long-term decline in prices in the oil market will not necessarily mean a catastrophe for the Russian economy. With a favorable state's attitude toward  science, we will be able to recover the leading position as it was in the ‘50-‘60 years of the twentieth century. We will be able to participate in the new industrial revolution, going forward to terminate the humiliating position on the raw materials periphery of the world.

Even combined, these two studies still not give the much desired certainty of this huge, grams to MWatthours(not MWatts as I wrote yesterday effect; the implacable 1=0 rule, 1 testis NO test does apply to both even taken together. Independent confirmations are under way but I think the confirmations by the Masters- the Lugano testers and by Pakhomov are more valuable than tests that are more independent than good.

LENR CENSUS: HOW MANY SPECIES EXIST?

Sunday is an excellent day for an exercise in deep but free thinking, of looking to reality and its facts with superiority and detachment. To search for the great vision,
beyond obstacles, myths- and temporarily ignoring the primitive dichotomy possible/impossible. To look at the world of LENR not as it is but as it has to be according to our philosophy.
It has happened that a good friend has finished his message with:

There is good reason to believe that magnetism is the prime mover in LENR. Under this speculative paradigm, it is interesting to consider the options and consequences of this conjecture. In such a paradigm, any technology that is friendly to magnetism would be good for LENR, and conversely, a technology that undercuts the strength of magnetism is bad.
The posit that ultimate LENR causation is rooted in magnetism is supported by the emission of RF as a reaction byproduct just as heat is a byproduct.If LENR theorist would attempt to understand how RF emissions fit into the LENR paradigm, a new world of understanding would unfold before such a effort.

I bet the NAE is a magnetic trap for a micro lightning ball (mlb) which is a very magnetic and electrically charged object. 

Because it is charged the mlb tries to recover neutrality by approaching the metal surface. If it succeeds to actually reach the metal it will recover neutrality (catch free electrons around) and disappear ("evaporate") in a very short time. But the mlb has also a huge magnetic moment so it could in principle be trapped in a ferromagnetic material inside a zone with an appropriate magnetic field configuration : this is probably what happens in Ni cracks (NAE) : in an crack a mbl is trapped at a certain distance from the frontier of the crack and in this way can remain neutral and alive for a long time .... until the temperature rises above the Curie point of the Ni in which case the magnetic trap cannot be effective anymore (or may be much less: remember that a mbl is extremely magnetic because it is a collection of charged particles spinning at extremely high kinetic momentum). Thanks to this and thanks to the thermal oscillations of the Ni network around it , the NAE is able to get closer and closer to the metal trap border and produce "cold fusion effects"

Abstract: The ideas put forward earlier about the initiation of nuclear processes in a low-temperature plasma as a result of interaction between electrons of high (on chemical scales) energies and nuclei are demonstrated to be helpful in clearing some debatable issues concerning the synthesis of light elements in the solar atmosphere. Specifically the case in point is one of the puzzles associated with the radioactive isotope beryllium-7 whose abundance in the solar atmosphere exceeds the concentration of the stable isotope lithium-7 that is formed from beryllium-7, too, upon K-electron capture with a half-life of 53 days.

2) Emil Irikovich Biktashev has predicted a year ago the conditions in which the Coulomb barrier disappears (a video)
 It says it is about the formulas Coulomb-Biktashev and Newton Biktashev, flying saucers( an object can be seen) levitating) and cold fusion in the pocket. (small size?) Probably a more complete understanding of the electromagnetic interaction. Cannot find much about the author- the video will remain in the puzzle-state for a while.
The comments seem not enthusiastic.

I will ask these two authors that belong to the international LENR community to tell us what they think about the Rossi Effect- and what will they do to prove it. As you know, Bazhutov is collaborating with Parkhomov.

It seemed to be something consistent and useful and because so many LENR-ists of all times were accused of lying, lying both systematically and systemically, I have decided to apply the method described in the paper to important LENR cases. Obviously I have started with myself,
I know that in my blog Ego Out I have told exactly what I thought, how I thought with quasi suicidal sincerity and masochism. I have conveyed information from sources and all I can do is to hope that they are not lying.
I apologize for the excess of euphemisms in the discussions with trolls- I am very good at but I don't like verbal extremism.

The paper says there are  4 Communication Signs Of A Liar:

Minimal Self-Reference: Liars write or talk more about others often using the third-person to distance and disassociate themselves from their lie.
Negative Language: Liars tend to be more negative because on a sub-conscious level, they feel guilty about lying.
Simple Explanation: Liars often over simplify because their brains struggle to create a complex lie.
Convoluted Phrasing: And even though liars keep things simple, they seem to use longer and more convoluted sentence structure. Inserting relevant words but in a hard-to-understand way.Because I am not lying, therefore this is a test of the test, not of my EGO OUT blog, expressing my Ego.

Let's see:

NO! Beyond any doubt (and shame) it is maximal self-reference in the blog. I take responsibility for what i am saying and I am not good in postlogical thinking i.e. appeal to authority. I make risky counter stream speculations and even predictions, to err is moral, to lie -not. 

Negative language 
YES! My negativity is based on my personal philosophy see:  http://fqxi.org/community/forum/topic/2015 Taking reality in account, I dare to say that it is a greater dose of inherent lies in positive (optimism at any price!) thinking than in thinking the negative aspects prevail, as a rule. Nobody, almost believes me that in solving problems what we don't know is usually more important than what we don't know. In LENR this is a certainty.

Simple explanation. 
NO! If you will find simple explanations- more precisely explanations based on the conviction  that things are simple, these are not my original, personal explanations. I have paig a high price learning that human, scientific, and technological things are never simple.

Convoluted phrasing 
YES! I have the most serious doubts that this is a good criterion for liers. There are other factors, not mendacity that determine verbal tortuosity. It is also not that English is not my  native language- I am thinking in English when I write this blog for example. My phrasing is convoluted when I write in Romanian or Hungarian too.
As an aside translating a highly cultured text- as Piantelli's or Roberto Germano's from Italian  or reading an essayby my regretted friend Mike Carrell or to read David Nagel's  reviews. papers is a form of FLOW.
(There are other good examples too in LENR-land)

My conclusion is that the test is not generally applicable, It is impossible to spot a first class lier- the one who believes what he says usually only when he says it.

Parkhomov was admirably open and helpful...and continues to be. We are not allowed to judge his method statically- but in evolution. I take for sure that  from the data of publishing his very first test (and even before this) he has made new tests, and if he invites now the skilled and smart- and critical young researchers- this means he has no doubts that his excess heat is real and well measurable.

However- the Spirit of Science weeps bitterly if actually the Luagano testers are NOT collaborating lab-to-lab with Parkhomov.

This is something important for us actually, because around LENR and LENR+ the disputes and serious scientific discussion, are simultaneously power games or struggles. 
The entire traditional, post-logical, mainstream scientific-technological community

No, it is impossible. To make an E-Cat work regularly for months you need more than that. As I said, the E-Cat is a much more complicated thing than commonly is imagined. The substantial underevaluation of what we did has given us a strong advantage, since instead of changing the game, the imitation attempts on course try to fix old schemes, thinking that if we did something working the difference must be something very small, close to evanescent. This attitude gave us a strong advantage in the competition. For years I have been considered an imbecile who has been lucky God knows why, who makes things without understanding what the heck is doing ( in the best of cases). Or, more kindly, a fraudster. Obviously this has been a big advantage for our Team. I can say this now, since we are close to go commercial massively. I think now is too late to catch us.

Being at an age beyond career targets or ambitions, I am also fighting my power struggles- in the silent mode: for the acceptance  of LENR+ (because I am a technologist) and against the cracks-as-NAE theory of Ed Storms because it is based on a philosophy  of Laws of Nature, and on simplicity- I disagree structurally with both.  But in my power fights there are not even traces of hostile feelings or fear that it will be shown that I am deadly wrong..

I wrote many papers- perhaps too many, motivated by my flaming discontent with the situation,
but also because many things happen- then why exactly this technical "actionable parameters" paper:

I believe in the Wisdom of Crowds (despite/or just for the sake of my Septoe: "The wisdom of crowds lies in their diversity" and I know my many silent readers have understood a basic LENR truth- the great problem is that we miss actionable parameters in the PdD experiments.
With other words, the systems are not manageable.

Here I have analysed two high level very advanced Pd D papers, one by SKINR  and the other by ENEA, Vittorio Violante and an international team.

The structures of the electrochemical interface during the excess event and in the absence of excess power are compared, revealing a resonant equivalent circuit when the electrode is active. RF signals have also been detected when the anomalous heat production takes place

He is the greatest expert in Pd metallurgy and morphology, the "creator" of the legendary cathode 64 of Energetics, one of the participants at this meeting at the Europen Parliament http://coldfusionnow.org/european-parliament-itre-committee-meets-over-fleischmann-pons-effect/ and very recently, the LENR scientist who discussed with Bill Gates about- very probably- funding of LENR. A LENR  VIP at the n-th power!

His research strategy is well known, it is Materials Science for Understanding the Fleischmann Pons Effect- LENR- an idea that is also the spirit of the coming ICCF-19.

Abstract
The state of the palladium metal has been identified on the basis of statistical data to play fundamental roles in producing the Fleischman–Pons excess heat effect. The deuterium loading dynamics and its equilibrium concentration are mostly controlled by the metallurgy; a minimum threshold loading (D/Pd ∼ 0.9) is necessary to observe the excess. The crystallographic orientation is also correlated with the phenomenon such that mainly 100 oriented samples gave the highest reproducibility. A specific cathode surface morphology, identified by means of the power spectral density function, represents an additional identified condition to observe the
effect. Materials specimens respecting the characteristics described above have been used to obtain a transportable reproducibility.
Designed materials giving excess power have been produced but the amplitude of the signals and full reproducibility are not yet achieved. Other features of the material such as the nature and content of impurities and defects seems to be crucial in obtaining the required palladium characteristics.

Now back to the paper analysed today. A colleague in LENR< Ed Pell has written a bright short presentation of it:

"This paper is both wonderful and awful. On the positive side, it demonstrates that many factor influence cold fusion and that many physical outputs and changes take place. On the negative side, it is a hodge-podge of one off measurements. To build understanding we need to know A as a function of B, parametrized results over a broad range of values. This is an excellent initial paper. I hope they will continue to measure and report. There are enough variables here to study for years to come."  Thanks, Ed!

The truth is that an immense quantity of high quality analytical work is invested in this paper.
However the correlations with the results are not well defined/definiable

However some interesting aspects are revealed:
 "excess power is characterized by a dramatic changing of the electrochemical interface, leading to a resonant phenomenon occurring into identified resonating structures, which highlights the
importance of investigating surface/interface equivalent electric circuits. In addition it turns out that nanoporous structures have been identified on the active samples. An RF signal emission has been observed during the excess power production but such a signal has been obtained
also when the excess power was absent, showing that RF emission is not the effect of the excess but perhaps the cause"
It is about a dynamic phenomenon at the surface of the palladium and such a thing was easy to predict even in 1992. However it is a long way to go to reproducibility, intensification, scale up  and control. Sorry, PdD!
