Two proverbs- trying to support what I wrote recently


TWO PROVERBS

It is about two proverbs both hyper-intuitive, based on hundreds of years of experience of not very happy people, more useful than tons of philosophy. They are of Middle-East European origin perhaps a bit peripheral too- and I have them implanted in the DNA of my personal culture. I want to share them with you, friends, despite the great risk to be considered as uneducated – the proverbs are unpardonably indecent- dirty speaking. My dictionary is very mixed, I have read good books, have discussed with scientists and men of high culture but I also have lived between the proletarians having a really colored jargons, learned swearing at least in 4 languages
OK, my Blog will perish due to long introductions...let’s go…

THE FIRST PROVERB: is Romanian and says:”Ce are sula cu prefectura?” – literally, ‘what has to do the prick with the prefecture- as Institution’,, bien compri! It has an enormous field of application, it teaches that there many things that are absolutely nothing to do – one with other, it is no trace of relations between them. It is very important because we are all the time poisoned
with false cause-effect links and with inexistent correlations so much used in manipulations- populist or not..
I give only one example- now inspired by REFERENCES of Piantelli’s work. The question, proverbial in a peculiar sense, is
:”What has democracy to do with research and especially publication of the results?” Research decisions are not taken by vote it has to be somebody who assumes the responsibility and, in a high degree can be identified with his theme of research- the Leader.
Why the authors are regularly enumerated in alphabetical order? Even an aleatory order established by draw, throwing of dices would be better. So the first author is somebody who made very good analytical work, Focardi comes as second and Piantelli who planned, conceived and executed the experiences is almost the last. Alphabetical order of authors is a very harmful form of egalitarianism, is demotivational and unjust, Research is a realm in Extremistan, not Mediocristan- has to be based on the initiative, conception, real merits and not on a “good for all” spirit. Alphabetic order can be an University tradition but tradition and justice are many times as you-know-what and the prefecture,


THE SECOND PROVERB- Hungarian-and it says simply: “A technikaval nem lehet kibaszni:- seemingly “you cannot fuck-out with the technique (technology). The real sense is you cannot cheat the technology- and other case of the rules must be respected, respected absolutely in their entirety. Just think about your car, microwave oven, vacuum cleaner, iPod. The builders of these have discovered and implemented the principles and rules up to the last
small detail. If I refuse to buy a car that comes easily to a speed of 200 km/hour, but has some occult trouble with the brakes, you will

How does apply Prof. Piantelli the Rules of Galileo in practice


Applications of Galileo’s Rules in TM-LENR (from Piantelli’s messages)


His experimental facts gathered in 20+ years of work in the most orthodox mode possible and following the 4 rules of Galileo- still not completed…have shown him a way (he has arrived to the 4th rule verification)
Note: When our intensive and , for me, very instructive and enjoyable correspondence has started- March 2010, he wrote about the state of facts in his own LENR research- in his laboratory from
Colle di Val d’Elsa: .

We are in the preindustrial phase.
The reproducibility is 100%
There are possible modulations of power of 50%
We have already determined the primary reactions
We have determined some of the secondary reactions
We have made tests with other transition metals (besides Ni) and the results are excellent, in special for one of the metals used.
The theory is in course of publication and I have sent you the abstracts.
One of our cells has now worked in our lab at Colle diVal d’Elsa with good stability (fluctuations less than 5%)
We have evidenced emissions of photons of high energy, continuously
It is put in evidence a non-electrostatic potential difference between the extremities of the rod on which the metal clusters are deposited.

In meantime, he made great advances and is working, in the spirit and the practice of the scientific method – on scale-up. (in 2010 he was on the intensity level of tens of  Watts energy gain)

A statement of Piantelli.
I am a scientist and first of all I have to understand all the developments, positive, negative and dangerous (as it always happens) with an industrial devices and technology.

And a warning:
“To start engineering without complete knowledge of the phenomena can be dangerous; Galileo’s rule helps us to formulate the laws engineers can use for the design functional prototypes... A terrible counter-example is atomic energy obtained in fission reactors/plants, where unknown and/or under-evaluated parameters have lead to disasters” An industrial product has to be verified in all senses including all the aspects of controllability, reliability and safety.
He uses any opportunity to emphasize that if you don’t know all the parameters and laws that control a process, you are exposed to risks- accidents can happen.

“A theory must consider the judgment of the 4th rule of Galileo, if the experiment does not give the expected answer/results, then the theory is NOT the explanation of the phenomenon/ Mathematical perfection is great, is impressive, but a good, correct physical answer is something else.”
A physicist, even with limited knowledge cannot accept statements that have no proof- this is not a problem of skepticism, just of common good sense (and of the rules of Galileo)

As seen, his Project comprises theoretical explanation, verified by experiments.

Now there are missing true researchers who know and apply systematically the Rules of Galileo; there are many over-specialized physicists  who know methods, techniques and instruments, make experiments  but not judge them well.
This Da Vinci type technological thinking is valid only for very simple, riskless systems. But obviously it not goes for nuclear reactions (LENR included!)- there are many applications possible therefore the laws have to be well known- for all the possible cases. And you have to be extremely careful at scale-up! It is, metaphorically speaking not about making a smaller or greater fire, but also about to know how to extinguish it when it tends to escape under control. Only complete knowledge of the phenomena and the laws governing them helps us to avoid the worst things. LENR is nuclear and it is not allowed to perform such experiment in the garage (or in the kitchen as has tried some naïve or crazy guy in Sweden, recently)
Science vs. technology- very different philosophies are necessary. The scientist searches something completely new and goes on a way that starts with an initial experiment and tries to arrive to a description of the unknown phenomena going through mathematical working, thus elaborating hypotheses that need experimental verification. Truth is substituted with certainty.
A term deeply understood by Piantelli is “internal consistency” of a theory or vision of a process- this is kind of harmony between theory and praxis, a perfect dynamic combination between the parts and the whole. He has repeatedly demonstrated to me that he owns a “holistic and holographic view” of LENR.
And- essential! he is aware of what is still missing from this Vision.
Scientific results when obtained correctly, respecting the scientific method from adequate observation and description to perfect confirmatory experiments- do not need so called independent reproduction; that could be very difficult sometimes from objective (specialized labs necessary) or subjective (undisciplined, falsely creative and dominant “I know it better” style experimenters) His personal experience with independent reproduction of his work, is, till now, very disappointing.
A sensitive point in this story is Cold Fusion (Pd-D, D+D =He variant) and the scientific experimental method,. How rigorously was it applied here? I will use a euphemism telling that Piantelli is not truly enthusiastic about how mainstream CF has developed. (he, having a good industrial experience is especially skeptic regarding electrolysis). The truth is that due to some still not fully known weaknesses of the system as unfavorable electronic conformation of palladium- the experimental results were plagued by over-difficult reproducibility and, what’s perhaps worse, very low intensity of the phenomena.
The first Rule of Galileo- the stage of observation and description was so difficult and has consumed so many resources and creativity- reward less- that CF remained practically stucked here. The trend to compensate and overcome this by many bold, fantastic, disruptive theories (some 160?) sometimes based on absurd hypotheses, but without a trace of experimental proof, including reactions with an astronomically low probability –was definitely non-Galileian.
Unfortunately no theory can explain the myriads of valuable data gathered in many prestigious laboratories.
It is not allowed for professional researchers to negate the acquired and verified Galileian certainties.
Mathematical splendor and the beauty of perfect logic starting from imaginary premises cannot replace the lack of confirmatory experiments. And we still need to know the fundamental parameters necessary for triggering, keeping in function
and enhancing the phenomena. Till then, classic CF will remain a theoretical source of energy- and this is an oxymoron (mine, not Piantelli’s) ,
It is very unfortunate that commercial competition, rush for big money tries to control, dictate, accelerate (by shortcutting the Rules of Galileo) scientific research. This is a source of losses of values, of un-discoveries and great risks (failure being the smallest). We have to stop poisoning the scientific community
with commercial criteria, thus short term gains kill long term progress. An example, connected in a way with this problem: the Bologna group says untruth – there are no radiations, when the E-cat works. Piantelli knows there are plenty of radiations and knows why they are here..
We will not discuss here about Rossi’s E-cat except Piantelli’s  expert opinion that no mythical catalyst exists and that multiplicative scale-up is contrary to the engineering’s common sense. Basta! (Enough) Piantelli has no time for polemics or for the mass-media
Francesco Piantelli is not only strictly respecting Galileo’s Rules- but his new ideas are based on and rooted in well established scientific facts; he calls this orthodoxy.  Solid State Physics including advanced nanotechnology, Quantum Mechanics, Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics, the sacrosanct teachings of Nuclear Physics, as well as Metallurgy and above all, the Principles of Energy Conservation..
However,  he is non-conformist and heretic the other way, by resisting to postlogical, i.e. authority based scientific thinking, e.g. by not using Giuliano Preparata’s bright but not universal theory- so popular in the community of Italian cold fusionists.

Special- contribution of Piantelli to the LENR-specific nanotechnology.
As in many cases, Piantelli’s research lime has a central issue, a core problem and a Pareto share of the experimental effort and this is the preparation of the crystalline nanostructures. These are a sine qua non condition for the system to work. The properties of nanostructures are very different from those of the bulk material, it is both a science and an art to know what these differences are and how to make them useful for your specific scientific technological task- in this case energy generation.
This was a supplementary task for Piantelli because the know how necessary to solve his problem was not available and had to be created from scratch. And has consumed years of research plus sourccs, adding to other delays as due to lacking of funding, staff,  reorganizations etc..
The commercial assortments of nanoNickel (e.g. from Alfa Aesar in Europe) are mot optimal for the FASEC process.
To realize the extent of this experimental effort, please consider that Piantelli has perfected 3 physical methods for manufacturing of the proper nanostructure.
AMBE- atomic and molecular epitaxy a high vacuum technique seems to be the standard. In principle the secret is simple, it is necessary to have proper conditioning for the maximum availability of the suitable nanostructures. This can be verified with a scanning electron microscope- with some experience. Even a good optical microscope magnifying some 1800X can be helpful.
For this crucial point of his research Piantelli was helped by an illuminating discussion with Professor Giuseppe Franco Bassani then the President of the Italian Society of Physicists- see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franco_Bassani
It was providential for progress regarding the 3rd Rule of Galileo- how to use mathematics for deep understanding.
The discussion was about the possible explanation of the anomalous phenomenon. Bassani has shown that the best methodology to use is DFT (Density Functional Theory) of Kohn Sham- for the study of interaction between H- and the crystalline clusters. Nanostructures is more a generic term that does not describe the exact structure for obtaining discrete energy levels and not energy bands- better also for showing the exchange and correlation energies. More simply told, the structures’s behavior has to be thus of giant atoms.
Piantelli says Bassani was an extraordinary generous man and scientist and his contributions to physics are unforgettable – just look to his books about Solid State Physics;

Highest price, time...

To understand the conditioning of the surfaces for creating the good nanostructure with crystalline clusters is essential for a functional process but also for avoiding the dangers of unreasonable, simpli(ci)stically empirical scale-up.
Obtaining plenty of energy is only the necessary condition of a usable energy source, but for getting something really useful and usable- there are many other conditions- control, safety, reliability, etc.

My conclusions.


First of all, Piantelli understands what he does and knows what he has to do, how he has to continue his work in the new discipline of transition metals LENR
He is a genuine expert, has developed a global vision of his field- both holistic (to see the whole) and holographic (to see the exact place and function of the details in the whole) – that makes his Opus internally consistent.
Energy generation- what Piantelli calls the FASEC process  (from “fusione anarmonica stimolata con emisione di calore”) is only a first stage of the creation of a new broad area of Science and Technology.
He has made a systematic and bold ascension on the DIKWP scale (data- information- knowledge- wisdom- prediction scale) and that allows him to prepare a great future for this young field of Science and Technology. May I just mention Piantelli’s formidable idea of the hybrid, neutron and proton reactor.
Piantelli has unique creative advantages due to his multidisciplinarity (physics, biology, metallurgy, self-made nanotechnologist) and transdiciplinarity (advanced cancer cure research).
Piantelli despite of being a purist of Science, perfectionist and maximalist in Science is far from being an ivory tower researcher- he has a vast experience in technological studies. (e.g. Eridania, Techint Engeeniring, Olivetti, many manufacturers of industrial catalysts and has worked at  many projects for companies and institutions, .Has absolutely NO attraction to become a press conference/mass media star, he is kind of claustrophile who prefers the life in his laboratory, with his research, problems, successes and failures. (it is a dispersion in which successes are the continuous phase.
And there are some other things, perhaps somewhat more subtle. May I (mis)quote a bit my colleague (chemist):
Being a professional is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren't. (Margaret Thatcher ).
I believe in professionalism and seriousness but I know well that not everybody does.
Francesco Piantelli is a genuine professional researcher. He uses to say that he is  a “manovale” i.e. a laborer, actually he is a front-line fighter with the Unknown, who has to focus on the fight, not on things less important.
The extension, importance and the perspectives of his field of work (TM-LENR) have to be supported by many international, multidisciplinary collaborations and …the creation of an entire INSTITUTE.

THE SCIENTIFIC VALUES OF PROFESSOR PIANTELLI


Professor Francesco Piantelli is the discoverer, main developer, and, very soon, will be the creator of an industrial energy technology based on LENR (for Ni but also for all the other transition metals, their mixtures and/or alloys.)
However, in the almost universal spirit of inverted meritocracy, Piantelli is not well known, even by the ,say, Cold Fusion community and not appreciated in proportion to his achievements, 
The main reason for this  is not an enigma- his life and work, his modus cogitandi, operandi and vivendi, all carry an unpopular implicit message: “there are NO shortcuts in science”  Worse, he thinks and has demonstrated  that science needs hard work and discipline. Science has some rules that MUST be respected. Specifically, first of all, he refers to the 4 rules of Galileo i.e. the scientific experimental method. Piantelli and our mutual young friend, Roy Virgilio (see the site of his forum: http://www.energeticambiente.it)  
are writing a book; “Galileo e il metodo scientifico attraverso i secoli” that’s “Galileo and the scientific method during the ages”- mainly for students, young researchers and scientists. First of all physicists, but the principles are valid for any branch of science. This book is necessary because even in Italy, in education and in the very practice of research, the scientific method is many times evaded, forgotten, ignored, marginalized. The influx of destructive ideas, strange damaging to Science- as New Age’s killer idea “rational thinking is only one he many possibilities” accelerated research for commercial success, the cultivated ambition of scientists to become mass media stars, exercise a great pressure on the scientific work and tend to lower its quality, its long time efficiency and even its ability to solve the really important (ergo, difficult) problems. Based on his personal experience, Prof Piantelli promotes Galileo’s Rules – a vital and survival condition of serious scientific research.
You will learn that the Rules are in the same time principles and stages and are valid and a “must” in their entirety.

Galileo’s Rules and the Science.

The experimental method was used from the dawn of human civilization, much before Galileo lived.
Each and every  phenomenon was simply experimented and that constituted a proof, even if unique and there was not considered necessary to ask about any particularity or to compare it with  other experiments, therefore every phenomenon was considered- as it still happens in biology sometimes , a fact “per se,” independent from any other experimental data.
This has lead to consider the result of an experiment not as a true scientific fact, but more as simple curiosity, even if has some potential applications perhaps not convertible in some industrial product in the modern sense. Some of these experiments have resulted in practical devices used in the everyday life; starting from the far old ages (see the fire, the wheel, sailing, rowing, and the pump.)  The empty ball filled with water that was heated to produce steam and started to rotate when the steam came out through four tubes placed at90 °and all bent in the same direction and so many other experiments. It remains famous the automatic system for opening the door of the Temple of the Delphi oracle driven by the pressure of heated water. (Heron). All these discoveries have not generated specific knowledge regarding the nature of the fact, only regarding their practical uses.
Then it was not search for scientific explanations (Science did not existed then) that could help to understand the phenomena taking place in order to extend the possible uses.
Some of these experiments have resulted in practices and devices used in the everyday life in the antiquity.
The great merit of Galileo is the introduction of the scientific experimental method, i.e. the foundation of Science. His method is based on 4 precise rules.
1.   “sense-experiment”-comprises the reproducibility of the phenomena and the definition of the parameters that are framing the characteristics and the behaviors. It gives us a stimulus to study the phenomena, but does not show the natural law that rules them. (It is about observation and description, and is the high art of asking good questions from Nature)
2.   - “intuition” and “axiom” constitute the working hypotheses that have to be confirmed by the reproducibility of the “sense experiment”. It is derived from the critical examination of the “sense experiment” and it is the peak moment of the discovery- being an equivalent of the act of an artist who creates his art-work. It is not a mathematical act but a physical creative process.

3.-“mathematical progress” –is formed from logical deductions. based on the working hypothesis, that can be preferably expressed in the formal and rigid language of the mathematics. It allows the continuation of the deductive moment
for getting new knowledge – to be verified from time to time experimentally (this opens the way to the inductive method that helps in finding new knowledge and applications.  
However the mathematical conclusions must fit the sensible world.

4.”Experimental verification” is made of putting in practice the intuition for the final conclusive, definitive experiment of verification and this is final judgment regarding the validity of the phenomena and the knowledge. It generates complex possibilities of application. Incomplete, partial knowledge of the parameters is always a source of risks. Galileo’s conclusion was” our discussions (works) have to inside the sensible (real) world and not above it in the world of paper. (N.T- “sensible means “cognoscible by senses, but also real

What happens now with LENR shows that we still are in the presence of the “sense –experiment” (N.T. –observation, description) and it is a very long way to go. Roots

What made me think of approaching this subject today? In a few words: the world around us.

Let’s go through some recent world events, in no particular order. I will have to underline at this point that my origins (Romanian) and my current working environment (Austrian-based, with significant exposure to ex-communist countries) is influencing my perception and therefore below writing. I have never been a keen observer of US economy or politics; therefore I will try to stick to what I can perceive.

Social crisis – extreme right parties gain more and more popularity, while social and individual aggression is surfacing. The recent shooting in Norway can no longer be classified under the ‘classical’ terrorist definition. People were buried alive by criminal bands in Budapest and it looks like it is the same group that murdered an exceptional Romanian handball player in a nightclub dispute in 2009; it also looks like it did not stop there, as the police did not get them off the street... UK is facing robberies and street fights, with no particular criminal profile – all ages, colors, religions or education background and the prime minister has invited to London, as consultant for solving the crisis, the famous ‘zero-tolerance’ New York police chief – Bill Braton.

Sovereign crisis is spreading through the world. The social and political unrest has been going on for some time now in the Middle East. The European countries are falling one by one under the scrutiny of rating agencies, while having difficulties in refinancing their debts, at the same time with trying to get their deficits under control. Initially it was the so-called PIIGS, but now the number of affected countries is steadily expanding. The discussion about the future of the EURO-zone is dragging for months. Russia and Ukraine are pulling away from each other and we may witness another ‘gas war’ between the two, with much wider implications. China is over-heating. The US should have got out of the woods after the voting on August the 2nd, however it only took a couple of breaths before being hit really hard by the downgrade and stock market plunge.

All in all, this month a new earthquake shook seriously the financial world and now everybody is watching out for the potential tsunami-effect.

Hundreds of thousands of experts are out there in the world, some more prolific than other, trying to be the first to specifically predict when the world as we know it will come to an end. In 2008 voices also raised, reminding us the lessons of history: after all big world crisis, world wars followed. Since then, we have heard a couple of times that the line of events could lead to World War III (the Middle East unrest, the sovereign crisis, the rise of extreme right rulers). We have also been reminded over and over again about the Maya calendar ending, as of 2012. What will come after that - only the survivors of 2012 will be able to tell? As we have successfully surpassed the year 2000, let’s be optimistic once again and assume a large part of us will beat the odds.

There is of course another theory and it is that the WWIII is already here – just a different kind of war, without guns and blood-shed, just financial and political fights. It is of course a matter of definition, but this is a complicated debate and anyway is not the purpose of today’s posting.

During this week-end I started to read all these news in a different way. I remember the sensation that I felt years ago, before any of the ‘crisis’ symptoms surfaced. It was a period of glorious growth that people thought will never end, it seemed so natural for them that prices can go nowhere but up and money will always be easy to gain, while spending was the only logic purpose of having money at all. Saving was not ‘trendy’, old age was something we would never reach (because we work so hard and we are so stressed by our own importance in this crazy spinning world – right?). Therefore we must seize the day, seize also tomorrow and the day after. Well, what the hack, why not seize them all TODAY? (it is so easy to get a 35 years credit nowadays, right?).

The people who followed this line of thinking were either over-optimistic or ignorant or plain crooks (meaning they never intended to pay back what they borrowed). But they were also... a lot! And it is only natural that in those countries where spending is chaotic and individuals over-indebted, the companies they own and the governments they elect do more or less the same. This is one side of the coin.

The other side of the coin is that in the last decade almost everybody was allowed free access to money, on a market where everybody was treated more or less the same. And this is when it all went wrong - subprime on several country levels. Before the EURO period, the currencies and credit spreads reflected the countries’ profiles. The access of individuals to the credits was also restricted to their local market availability (and I am talking here in terms of volumes, prices, currencies). Globalization meant that Western money came to the ‘new’ markets after the drop of the iron curtain, with Western-like organizations, Western-like mentalities and Western-like mind-set about spending. They saw he opportunities of enlarging the markets for their products and, as the local people did not have the proper purchasing power to take on the huge quantities of available goods, the West also brought along their Western-like lending.

What they faced here was first of all that there was no history of prosperity in those countries, there was no prior accumulation and no middle-class. Therefore there were not too many second-ways out for bad loans. There was also a significant mass of ignorant and crook on those markets. There were also completely different legal systems and they worked (or better said did not work), as per local standards. Western lenders aggressive expansion policies and high competition did not help either, as the labor market was also not so well unprepared. To put it short, there was either lack of western-like professional and managerial know-how (within the senior professionals that came from the communist era) or a complete lack of experience (in the young and junior, even thou theoretically well trained staff).

Thus a vicious circle was set – the ignorant and the crook looking at each other over the counter. Of course there was also to a large extent a population of highly qualified professionals (both on customer and on staff level) and whenever they were part of the equation, the system returned expected results. However other various scenarios may have occurred: whenever one ignorant met one crook (or the other way around) small personal profits were gained and hidden within the system; whenever two ignorant met, the balance could go each way; whenever two crooks met, huge personal profits were gained and hidden within the system.

Of course the above aspects were considered by the Western investors when they came into those countries and were included in their ‘risk premiums’ – translated into prices that Eastern economies and individuals paid for the services. What the investors did not know was exactly how to measure this, as they experienced no real track record of crisis in those markets. The Western economies are only now paying the bills for the markets which they artificially created, to sell out their own products. It also means that the good borrower and the competent professional will have to pay even more ‘risk premium’ in the future - for the ignorant and the crook that has been unveiled in this crisis.

This is one tiny little side of the story, and only the West / East Europe flavor of it. The world is much bigger and the problems much deeper. Some experts try to attribute the current social and political unrest in some countries to the effects of the crisis, while linking the historical lessons of a long-term depression to an increased probability of a world war.

There is one question however growing inside my mind: ‘what if they got it wrong?’ What if the 2008 crisis is not the trigger, but one of the many effects of a much deeper and older problem? I will take you back to the main explanation that we received about the 2008 events. I will simplify this to an extreme, for the purpose of exemplification.

Three years ago the main culprit identified was the sub-prime mortgage lending in the US. The effects spread through the financial as well as real economy - like a metastatic cancer. Some voices are raised now, wondering whether the treatment (supporting the financial industry from breaking apart) was actually palliative, while the cancer kept on spreading and the countdown is still on. I personally like very much these two articles:

There are voices saying that we face a completely new crisis now, the sovereign crisis, significantly different from the one that hit three years ago. Yet the pattern is rather similar – good ratings and good prices bringing on over indebtedness and spending more that ‘they’ could afford and more than ‘we’ (i.e. contributors) would be able to repay in our lifetime. Our children and our children’s children would keep on paying for what ‘they’ spent these years (yes, the governments ‘we’ have chosen). It would sound fair if our children would actually be able to use those things that have been built or created with that money. If our countries’ spending would have gone to infrastructure, education, research – then there would be a reason for our children to contribute their share to repayment of the money spent. But if the money went for social privileges and for fueling inefficient state apparatus, for investing into useless things, then our children would certainly have a moral issue while paying for it.

And so I finally get to today’s subject. When I started writing this, I wanted to write about tolerance. After a while I understood that it is just one of the many things that I should be writing about, if I was to go to the roots of my understanding of the current crisis. Therefore I will choose another name for today’s post and will call it ‘Roots’. I will use it as a start for a series of writing on this theme, as I have stolen enough of your time already.

The conclusion that will end my posting today will be the following: I see the moments of January 2008, September-October 2008 and August 2011 as effects of something that started some 50 years ago in what we (Eastern countries) call the Western world. It gradually spread to the rest of the world. It seems to me now that it is a crisis of understanding and applying the basic human rights.

There are many religions, social systems and legal systems in this world; yet, in the name of the basic human rights, there is huge pressure towards bringing the entire world obey by some common rules. Without being wrong, it is also not right. Over-complicating the basic human right principles, expanding them into basic social and/or economic rights, applying it differently as per different environments and even worse, misusing their concept on individual or social levels has thrown the global human into a trap similar to the paradox of tolerance.

This is also why I initially wanted to write today about tolerance, because it seems to me it is praised as the key towards understanding between all people, as the ultimate virtue that must be universally practiced in order to get everything in good order. Of course that ‘good order’ in the view of tolerance is that I would let you do whatever you want even thou I disapprove and it is wrong as per my standards. Alternatively, being intolerant means I try to stop you and inflict my view of right and wrong upon you, which would be breaching your basic human rights. Tolerance does not seem wrong as a basic concept; however it is a fine line between tolerance, acceptance and then practice. And this is where Pandora’s box opens, but this will follow in another post. For the time being, I will leave you with two basic Wikipedia definitions, a glimpse at one of the most controversial notions ever:

Tolerance is ‘the practice of permitting a thing of which one disapproves, such as social, ethnic, sexual, or religious practices’.

Paradox of intolerance: a tolerant person might be antagonistic toward intolerance, hence intolerant of it; the tolerant individual would then be by definition intolerant of intolerance.

It is almost like a circular reference in an Excel file, no? However does not come either with the warning “you have just created a circular reference...” or with any ‘fixing’ solution. We have to deal with it as it is.

A PIANTELLI TAXONOMY



This Piantelli taxonomy/chronology shows that the Ni-H systems generate energy
but also radiations- as natural- so it is not believable that such generators not
emitting gammas for example can exist.
This is a first paper about the Piantelli process.

Note No 1: This paper is dedicated to Professor Francesco Piantelli.
These days I have tried to write a synthesis of his LENR ideas
and I have constantly discovered order and inner consistency
in his Opus. If this work is continued in the same spirit of the scientific method, a new, reliable Energy Source will be born plus other techno-blessings.

Note No.2: This writing was almost ready, months ago, but I postponed its  publication because it has a controversial part – re Noah’s Ark But now I have decided to take the risk of a confrontation with literalists who believe in the reality of this
Logically improbable and zoologically  impossible story..

OK, let’s start:
My young age intellectual pleasures were: to be informed and to understand what happens. These are also my old age intellectual pleasures. I still want to understand how the world works. A very important statement, is the following, actually my Septoe No 77:

 “The world is simultaneously chaotic and ordered.”

This seems to be impossible for a natural “or-or” thinking but is perfectly true. You have to find the order and accept the presence
of chaos This is the role of Science.

But the magic substantive ORDER has already appeared and it is directly connected with the quintessential verb: to UNDERSTAND. I have understood long time ago that the first step of understanding a set of data, facts, ideas, whatever is to  find some internal logic, some order , a common principle in them- to classify them. To build their taxonomy-is always a mixture of the natural and the artificial- created by the thinker.

Most important- a good taxonomy demonstrates that you have made progress in thinking- you are beyond the humiliating primitive prelogical thinking: See:

 My encounters with taxonomy are episodes of a great intellectual love story and even more. Some such  encounters were of decisive importance for my thinking and even for my life.

The first encounter took place in the pharmacy of Uncle Leopold/. My parents were both working and they could not supervise me during the summer holidays so they have decided that I shall be an apprentice in this pharmacy. Leopold, a relative of my father was so famous and skilled that the communists have not taken away his pharmacy and drugstore- a real miracle for those times best described by the adjective idiotic.
The pharmacy’s specialty was medicinal plants and I have learned how to collect, select, wash, dry, package them, how to prepare teas and extracts and mixtures of them, according to strict rules. I have learnt soon how important and beautiful- a full of sense a recipe can Names like Achillea millefolium, Mentha piperita, Tussilago farfara became familiar but I also was informed
that Hyosciamin niger, Atropa belladonna and Scilla maritima contain dangerous poisons- take care!. I memorized the name of some 1500 plant species- an excellent brain exercise. Similar names do not show always similar effects- it is not advisable to use strychnine if quinine is not available. It was a long lesson of order, discipline, best practices, of doing good, of systematic thinking of wisdom- Uncle Leopold was focused on healing and doing good- and had absolutely no interest in religion  as rites, rituals, fasting and holidays- he worked all the days of the week and tried to help everybody including the poorest people who could not pay for the recipes drugs, medicine. Antibiotics, then in full development made him enthusiastic. “Great progress, wonderful” he used to say.

From the names of the plants I have arrived to Carl Linne- the father of taxonomy, the scientist thinker who gave identity to the plants. Life is so interesting so rich, I believe in almost each new issue of the INFORMAVORE’s SUNDAY  you can read about the discovery of new species. Here it is  great discovery that would make Carl Linne very happy:.

After Linne I have discovered the book of Alfred Brehm about the world of the animals with a similar taxonomy as that of the plants.
Great pleasure I was born with a love for order not so much for the external order – to place each thing at its place as for internal order that determines how do work different systems and the entire world.

Intermezzo- if you believe in the reality of the story of Noah’s Ark do not read this, please!

A fine piece of wisdom- if consider it metaphorically, but something contrary if you take it literally is this quote.

It is a well known fact that Noah’s Ark was discovered and will be discovered again on the a Ararat or  on some other mountain in the area. I confess that this story is absolutely unbelievable for me, and Linne is the original cause of this dangerous and sinful skepticism.
. I will focus now on Spurgeon’s heroic snail.
The snail makes a lot of problems in this case; the animals came in pairs- male + female, he +she  but snails are usually hermaphrodites (heshe and/or shehe) and their sexual acts can be considered in the same time double normal and double homosexual (sin! sin!). But the real problem is that there ,are some 40,000 species of land snails worldwide http://www.blurtit.com/q639615.html
and theologically/theoretically all of them had to be present on the Ark,in couples.- at a safe distance from the 1700 species of noisy, unmanageable dinosaurs.Just when I am writing this I get a paper about  what were these dinos eating: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/12/science/12dinosaurs.html?_r=2&ref=science. Snails are eating mainly rotten plants but there also are gourmets/cannibals that eat other, obviously smaller, snails.
When did this army of snails arrived,- before or after the marsupials, penguins, the Kiwi bird and some another thousands of species that live only in New Guinea or Madagascar? I don’t understand how could the kangaroo arranged a ticket for the Ark- this beast is plasticizing a method of child birth quite special in two steps, the first being indistinguishable from an abort- a great sin!
In case the snails were first they have received a better room
or cabin on the Ark. Probably the common, edible species
Helix campestris and  Helix aspersa behaved with decent modesty
but I am not sure about the giant Achatina achatina,living in Ghana- up to 35 cm long and weighing above 1 kilogram, surely an arrogant bastard. Not speaking about his/her wife/husband- a very noisy, aggresive individual- so are they all.

As regarding the other passengers, they were a lot. Read this please, suppose 40% of these are good swimmers- but a lot remains.

I hope that old Noah was an expert zoologist and a great animal lover so he gathered plenty of food (not for strict survival only)
for these dear creatures. Between 560 million and 1 billion of humans were drowned at the Flood but they were all irrecuperable sinners
I have to confess that due to my brain structure I am unable even to take seriously this story and I am aware that this adds me to a  blasphemous minority and will determine my post-mortem location. I don’t care, but surely I am more resistant to pain than to boredom.
I am deeply disappointed and sad that in this so-called 21st Century my grandchildren learn at school about Noah’s Ark and NOT about Evolution.

Back to taxonomy. Without it  no scientific thinking can exist, and it is necessary to think scientifically to grasp the essence of existence.
When you think scientifically as a rational being, the world will become very different for you.

An other taxonomy which has decisively influenced my life  was tMendeleev’s periodic table of elements. It is both a taxonomy and a I-st class theeory (first class theory predicts, second class theory prohibits, third class theory explains)- it is painful that cold fusion has only theories from the last class, Piantelli’s LENR of transition metals theory is the first exception.)
Mendeleev’s understanding has produced a really bright vision.  And has saved me in a critical occasion.

The periodic table of elements is an extraordinary performance in taxonomy. Using it and the electronic conformation of the elements we can understand their properties. I can become very enthusiastic reading papers like:

The story is about my admission exam at the Faculty iof Chemical Engineering back in 1954. It was the wild age of communism then, acute class fight. The children coming from poor families entered the University on shortcuts, children of bad social origin on the
opposite i.e. obstacled ways. I was a sinner with inherited sins an idea that I consider dreadful irrespective of its origin- ethnical, religious, political, or,as it was then, economical. Horribly injust.
Seemingly eternal, but forms and reasons change.

A new form of “numerus clausus”.
I had to get good marks, but unfortunately I made an error at the math exam. I was in great danger...the critical exam- chemistry.
I get a question about Chromium. I tell them its element No 24. atomic weight 52. How do you know? they ask. I tell them that I know the periodic table by heart. They laugh, don’t believe it and  ask me about a lot of elements - including lantanides and actinides- and I answer well to all the questions- I knew then Mendeleev’s table at the “know-why” level. Great success- people not excessively intelligent but with good memory are appreciated and considered socially useful. I become kind of a star.
Thank you, Dmitri Ivanovich!. I also get a very high mark at the exam of Russian language, I like the language and my Mother has told many times that Dostoievsky was one of the greatest psychologists between the writers- he understood so well the  human soul. At least its darkes parts.
So has saved and helped me my passion for taxonomy to become a chemical engineer.
By the way- at the beginning of this Century I have published a paper in which I try to re-define the “chemical element”:

It is a noble task of scientist to work out improved taxonomies.
And these successive taxonomies show you the evolution of a field or of a problem.
