‘Expert’ is a very rich subject – also connected to the DIKW scale- it is so natural to think that the expert is the Insight Worker- usually coming from outside and from far... We will start to define the LENR expert. Andrea Rossi has said more times the LENR experts, the genuine ones, are different people than we usually think they are. He is a recognized expert in non-information and has not said who those real experts are.

Following my own negativity based methods; I would try to determine first who those experts are NOT. See the first Motto and translate in a simpler language- experts are those people who know how much they don’t know about a subject. This is vital knowledge due to the cruelest problem solving rule: 5. .NOT what we know, but what we don’t know is more important for solving the problem.

This means that there are not experts who are emphasizing continually how much they know. It is not easy to see what and how much they actually understand of what they know. In principle it is possible they know everything and understand nothing.

Who in our field has the expert vision- both holographic and holistic? I think almost nobody because the densities of the unknown unknowns, of the temporarily unknowable unknowns, of the falsely known unknowns – in LENR -are all unusually high.

We desperately need people with the expert’s mindset even if expertise will flourish only later when many obstacles will be gone. A short description about how true experts are is here:

1. Real experts focus on their field, not themselves.

2. Real experts have no trouble saying:  “I don’t know.”

3. Real experts demonstrate intellectual honesty.

4. Real experts show intellectual curiosity.

5. Real experts know when and how to share.

6. Real experts know when and how to improvise.

7. . . . Real experts cannot help but teach.

LENR needs experts and they will come., the experts in the new LENR.

I don’t believe in angels but I believe in real experts and this because I have met them in my professional life. I know it is an increasing trend to negate the role and power of experts. This is a branch of anti-intellectualism a very unjust one,  a result of the fight of the amateurs for equality, in expressing opinions, a pathological side effect of misunderstood democracy that generated  concepts as “wisdom of crowds”. What I know, is this: a technology is an expertocracy or it doesn’t exist. No exception for LENR.
