DAILY NOTES

UHE not AHE!

My anticipated triumphalism re the next year was deflated a lot this morning when agin I met the cursed word "anomalous"  (for heat) in the title of the excellent paper 2) by Akito Takahashi and his collaborators. The word is very present in the LENR land and it is promoted by "us" not by our enemies or deniers. Few words could be more destructive than this and more demoralizing- how in the Hell could be the main source of energy of the future anomalous.? Temporarily till the technology matures it can be unexpected, surprising or in extremis - strange but never anomalous; if it violates a Standard, that standard is obsolete, LENR is a creator a builder of new standards, laws, principles and values. It is not unhealthy- it will be a superior health.
Nomen est omen- and bad names bring bad luck, are harming labels attached to a concept or reality
If you have a child, take care with the name he gets see please;

A nasty name is a great obstacle- it can destroy the finest charisma later
It is  a verbal repellent and I have a personal history  with the mosquito repellent used in Romania for the yearly military exercises of the Army in the Danube Delta. I worked at SOLVENTUL then and I have improved the technology of dimethyl phtalate
decreasing the batch time from over 5 days to 41 hours by using a new distillation column for separating methanol from water- one gasket failed and I was exposed to methanol vapors, my left eye was destroyed then-  summer 1962.

Say NO to anomalous.
I don't know why this ill word is still part of the LENR dictionary- please replace it with UNEXPECTED.

[Abstract]
Brief review of Technova-Kobe study (2008-2015) on anomalous heat effects (AHE) by interaction of nanometals and D(H)-gas is presented in three parts.
Part-I) D(H) isotopic effect by twin gas loading and calorimetry at room temperature is reviewed.
Part-II) AHE by interaction of binary Ni-based nano-metals and H(D)-gas at 200-300 deg C is reviewed.
Part-III) Theoretical explanation by advanced TSC-models is briefly reviewed. AHE at room temperature was significant only in dynamic evolution of D-absorption, cf. H-absorption, and considerable D(H)-isotopic effect for integrated heat values. AHE lasting for several days has been observed at elevated temperatures in the range of 200-300 deg C. AHE has been confirmed by repeated observation of excess heat-power. AHE was lasting for long time span as several days for CNS, PNZ and CNZ samples. AHE has been seen after D(H) loading ratios saturated. AHE is therefore some catalytic surface sited effect by in/out of D(H)-gas. Observed long lasting heat gave order of GJ/mol-H(D) (or several keV/atomH(D)) in a few days span. Level is not of H(D) chemical absorption energy, so far. AHE at 200-300 deg C is almost impossible to explain by known chemical reactions. Pd-only nano-metals did not work at higher temperatures than 100 deg C. AHE were observed both for H- and D-charging at 200-300 deg C.

Dear Andrea Rossi

Does the information of the temperature rise come to late for the use of an external coolant to be used to lower the heat sink temperature?

Best Wishes

Hugh DeVries:
The matter of the fact is that the cooling process should be late respect the damages caused from the rise of the temperature. We invented another system, much more reliable.
Warm Regards,
A.R.

he most effective source of carbon-free energy available on a large scale is nuclear and this would be accepted but for the general view that it is particularly dangerous. The scientific evidence does not support this long-held apprehension. Why has this contradiction persisted for so long and why is nuclear power apparently so expensive? The evidence makes plain the need for a root-and-branch cultural change in attitudes to nuclear technology.

  1. The use of the term 'anomalous heat' would be just fine if the discussion were amongst gentlemen. Alas cold fusion is a world of trolls who insinuate their evil into every conversation, nook, cranny, and NAE in the field.

    1. Dear Sam,
Thanks- however EmDrive is present in English too.
Otherwise its connection to LENR is somewhat indirect

  3. Peter - it could be even more difficult selling a device that produced 1MW of "unexpected heat". As such, maybe "anomalous" isn't so bad a label until we know precisely how to make it happen every time, since then it won't be either anomalous or unexpected but instead the predicted result.

Looking at the experimental results across the field, more experiments don't produce the desired heat output than do. It's probably not worth worrying about the description yet.

    1. Dear Simon,

Not a good correltion I think, the 1MW plant will be bought only if it works and works well. They cannot be anomalous or surprising plants or generators.
Happy New year to you and Yours!
