The solution of the riddle- the real KEY word is: NO (NOT) We all
have to learn how to use it.
Very important for an adequate system of thinking and problem solving

THE SILENCE OF THE SKEPTICS - AGAIN
Dr. Robert Park, from the Maryland University is perhaps the
best known critic and skeptic of the LENR- experiments
better (actually worse) known under the generic name of Cold Fusion.
No word in the last What's New of Dr. Park about the Rossi E-cat.
Motivation unknown. I wonder if this silence is not useful
information as in this classical puzzle.

I hope that NOT all my readers know the puzzle.

Life stages
Conception, life, death.
This is how short the story of one’s life can be. I did not start with birth, because it all begins a little earlier than that.
But of course I will not post such a short version of life stages. I will elaborate a bit.
Infancy: innocence and immaculate beauty, vulnerability and strong dependence on one’s parents (or some other responsible person…), full trust, unconditional love, definitely more than 5 senses – actually the entire body is one big sensitive receptor.
Childhood: a bit of innocence, a bit of cunningness, a bit of genuineness; big chunk of curiosity and courage, difficulty to understand that there is a link between cause and effect, lack of experience, all kinds of fears - but also fearlessness, vulnerability and dependence, unconditional trust, complete or shy loving, great expectations and big disappointments, healthy crying, incredible dedication, determination (stubborness?), nightmares and sweet dreams haunting the nights, demons and knights, princess and fairies, tales and adventures, friends and traitors, idols and villains, poetry and music, painting and sports,… but also envy and frustration, hatred and wickedness.
I have to stop because there are other stages to cover also… you got the picture. The endless possibilities of future development that we have in front of us in childhood are not replicated in any other life stage. This is why the first years of education are the most important for defining our future minds and souls, modeling our characters for going forward.
Puberty: a bit of childhood blended with high level of insecurity (in relation to your body, your soul, your personality, your purpose in life, your family, your friends, your… everything!), stormy hormones, accelerated development of gossip skills, passionate love and hate abbilities, admiration and envy, daily life-crisis and multiple world-endings.
Teenage-period: a bit of puberty blended with high dosage of unconsciousness and unlimited potential for self-destruction, sensibility (sometime close to paranoia), strange temptation for ruining the rest of your (otherwise potentially promising…) life cycles.
Maturity phase 1: the responsible survivors of the previous periods. Perhaps it is just an opinion, but I feel that in order to qualify as “mature”, you must overcome somehow the teenager phase. That very second when you realize and assume the basic responsibilities in your life, you have became a mature person. In this phase a lot of material and spiritual things come your way – status, experience, disappointment, love, family, confidence, wisdom, empathy, power, satisfaction, friends, relationships, happiness, sense of futility, self-fulfillment, despair, self-sufficiency, goodness, boredom, enemies, divorce, money, loss, gain, beauty, illness, recognition, respect, trust, betrayal, and … again I need to stop, because I would have to quote the whole Dex in here.
Middle-age: that period of one’s life when, while being of course a mature responsible person, one reaches the conclusion that some part of the pre-maturity phase was lost to him/her and decides it is still the time to try it. The strange temptation for ruining the rest of your life cycle comes back, sometimes stronger than in the teenage period.
Maturity phase 2: survivors of middle-age stage, that means maturity phase 1 enriched with experience coming after lessons learned in the middle-age.
‘Old-aged’: that period when your body and your soul are no longer aligned – one part of you wants to fly, the other part is strangely but strongly glued down to Earth. In this period you have enough know-how, wisdom and (most important!) will to do almost everything in this world, you would be willing to try every day some new things, but… have to settle with reading (if your eyes still listen to you), watching others do their own mistakes (and if you are lucky, you have some younger people listen to you before they do as they consider best anyway). Also with a bit of luck, this phase is not followed by innocence before the cycle closes for good.
Now… just a few more lines before I leave you, to go on with your individual life cycles.
If you were asked to distribute the above stages on a person’s lifeline, how would you do it?
One way would be to adhere to the standard social distribution, according to age: 1-> 3 -> 14 -> 18/21 -> 35 -> 45 -> 55/60 -> […] (last one depending on your personal negotiation skills in relationship to The Almighty). Of course there could be variations, like the famous "middle-age crisis period for male subjects" - between 3 and 83 years of age...
Anyway, I don’t like this distribution very much. It may fit a large part of the population but, it does not fit my life and neither it fits many of my friends.
Until about 14, I believe we all stay more or less in the standard distribution. Then glimpses of different stages start to mix somehow naturally in our day-to-day life. We find ourselves assuming great responsibility, feeling powerful and determined in one context. But then, sometimes the same day, we feel feeble and unsecure in another context. Fearless but then prudent, loving but then punishing, getting up old and wise in the morning, turning childish and adventurous in the evening (or the other way around). We teach one day a hard lesson, while the next day we enjoy playing like a child. We get hurt in a middle-age crisis one day, and then the next day we fall in love all over again, like teenagers.
And... that is exactly the good news. World-ends and new beginnings are possible all over our lifetime. There is never only one right time for something. Not only one time to play, one time to love, one time to learn, one time to suffer, one time to fear and one time to hope. We just need to gracefully embrace ourselves at any moment, in any of these stages. As we cannot travel back in time, we would better enjoy travelling through it!
And this is my wish for you today - enjoy your innocence, childhood, puberty, teenage-period, maturity, middle-age crisis and old-age! Every day!

Two "roots" of Ego Out
a) The great writer Arthur C. Clarke was a wise, enthusiastic and generous
supporter of New Energy. I awfully regret that he has not lived to see
the start of the Ni-H energy source. Arthur's birthday, December 16 is the same
as my wife's, so I remembered to congratulate him - together with many thousands
of his admirers. And I have received his bright EGOGRAMS- the yearly plans of a genius
for many years. Consciently or subconsciently (or both) this has influenced my
choice for the name of the intellectual and spiritual values lost when a human being
dies.
b) My best New Energy friend, Mike Carrell, sends me now a Chinese saying from a
Fortune cookie: “All men should try to learn before they die what they are running
from, and to, and why.” And to let the other people know what they have learned.

THE SILENCE OF THE SKEPTICS
Cold fusion had many enemies, very vocal ones who have tried to discredit and annihilate this new and rather unlucky area of science.
Actually, there cannot be honest and objective doubt regarding the very existence of the phenomena- hundreds of solid experimental results had been obtained. Perhaps the best e-place to see the good things is http://www.lenr-canr.org
However, the progress was slow, the processes have no univocal theory (more simple –are not understood), and the heat effects are usually weak – in the milliwatts to watts area, not really and quantitatively reproducible (a real curse!),.very sensitive methods of measurement are necessary. Therefore those who wanted to kill cold fusion- of interest, for a career in writing, for a negative meme
for an imaginary noble cause as protecting classical physics, from simple straightforward stubborn scientific sadism (I adore alliterations!)- had a relatively easy job. Cold Fusion- irrespective of its definition was marginalized, under funded, had a dreadful PR. It even became kind of sick metaphor for “impossible”. But it survived due to the heroic actions of many friends of the truth, seekers of a really new source of energy. I am proud to belong to this community even if I not belong to its mainstream orientation or core group.
I will take this opportunity to tell again my opinion- why the skeptics had such an easy job and could attack successfully a potential source of energy that is too far of being like a real source of energy... of low intensity, unreliable, not upscalable.
It is an absolutely personal explanation, as far I know nobody else agrees with it, it is ignored with superiority and hostility. Perhaps Cipolla’s Second Law regarding human stupidity “the probability that a given person is stupid is independent of any other characteristic possessed by that person” is very valid for me too
despite my age, experience and total dedication.
My career being finished because and I do not care of losing authority- ergo I will tell you (again) what I think about the apparent malediction that has hit cold fusion.
In 1992 I have published a paper in which I have tried to define the existential and developmental troubles of cold fusion: “Understanding reproducibility, topology is the key.”-
http://www.lenr-canr.org/acrobat/GluckPunderstand.pdf It is a simple unsophisticated paper saying that CF is something like catalysis and that’s good because we will use the experience gained in chemical catalysis to develop it in a technology...
But it is also bad, because catalysis take place in active sites and these have to be protected against destruction.
I wrote there: “In my opinion, this ‘lack of reproducibility’ is nothing else than an extremely high, mimosaceous sensivity of the cold fusion phenomena which can be triggered, delayed, perturbed or stopped by some hyperfine immeasurably small cause, such as sub-parts-per-billion impurities or “esoteric” metallurgical factors.
I still believe this and the most probable culprit is the group of polar impurities from air as SO2, SH2, NOx light hydrocarbons etc. They are also present in the air dissolved in (heavy) water in the electrolysis. Very stubborn, active impurities that are destroying the active sites (or NAE- nuclear active environment- the name they got later) Almost everybody believes that the impurities of air can change the climate of Earth but everybody knows that they CANNOT destroy cold fusion. C’est la vie! I thought that I am not infallible.
This rather long part was the Introduction.
The essence, Piantelli and then Rossi and Focardi have worked out reproducibly LENR processes using Nickel and hydrogen- sufficiently intense to be used in practice. The curse of cold fusion was defeated. I don’t know for sure if this is a confirmation of my poisoning hypothesis, however I know that Piantelli is using very
drastic methods for cleaning the surface of nickel- high temperature, very high vacuum, many cycles as described in his patent WO 2010/058288. And the Rossi Focardi device is the Energy Catalyzer.
The two Bologna University demonstrations are very convincing. A lot of other data supports the idea of the Solution- a new important, useful energy source has arrived. It is interesting that the great, important, authoritative skeptics are silent. This is kind of an enigma- what do they know, what do they think? Do they realize that finita la commedia… or they are just preparing
new venomous killer discourses? Or on the contrary, they will say kind of mea culpas? Time will show.
Is the silence of the skeptics a good sign?

First 3, than 6 and finally 4 hats
This is the second part – introductory – to my Problem Solving System. It is actually about MODES OF THINKING. Essential, but very simple.
I have met the “hat metaphor” very late- the local cultures do not
accept that hats can change your thinking and personality. I heard it first from an US PVC specialist who told me at the official dinner (before getting very drunk) that he is using three hats- one makes him very American, the second brings him back in the tradition of his Chinese ancestors; the third makes him a dedicated professional/scientist..
Actually he came to us with many prejudices, considering that we are technically some kind of Ouagdougou. It was a pleasure to give him a lesson so he could see that his 3rd hat is not staying so well on his head.
I noticed the metaphor of hats but still have not adopted it. Many years later the potential of Edward de Bono’s Six Hat system http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Thinking_Hats has convinced me
that the metaphor has creative value.
However, before this new discovery I have worked out and published – very soon after the events of December ’89 my own
taxonomy of thinking modes. There are only four modes: prelogical, logical, superlogical and postlogical. Four hats. but much better 4 brain functionalities. I will present you an up-to-dated version of the paper: “Creative and non-creative thinking modes in scientific research” - extended to many aspects of our existence.
